Jefferson Performing Arts Society proudly announces its 45th season mainstage directors, featuring directors based in New Orleans, New York, and San Antonio. Several directors are returning to JPAS after directing or performing with JPAS in recent seasons; two make their JPAS directorial debut this season. The following overview includes shows that are part of JPAS mainstage season subscription packages, currently on sale. Single ticket sales open June 6th for all 45th season shows. BIRDLAND JAZZ CLUB will present a historic evening with two legendary Broadway stars Anita Gillette and Lee Roy Reams for the first time on Monday, June 13 at 7:00 PM.

80s pop music royalty Debbie Gibson performs at Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts (PTPA) on Saturday, June 11 at 8:00PM. Lobby and bar concessions open at 7pm. Vampire attacks, werewolf sightings, and the resurrection of an Egyptian Princess all make an appearance in Island City Stage's newest production of “The Mystery of Irma Vep: A Penny Dreadful” by Charles Ludlam, running June 9 – July 10.

ComedySportz Chicago - a 35 year-old improv comedy institution - announces a new move to Piper's Alley in Chicago's iconic Old Town neighborhood. CSz Theater Chicago will take up a short residency through the July 4th weekend. CSz Theater will occupy both the Blackout Cabaret and Judy's Beat Lounge throughout the run. CSz Theater will reopen with a regular programming schedule of League Night on Thursdays at 7PM in the Blackout Cabaret, ComedySportz main stage Fridays at 8PM in the Blackout Cabaret and Saturdays at 6PM in Judy's Beat Lounge, and the brand new hit musical improv show, Trapped in a Musical will play Saturdays at 9:30PM in the Blackout Cabaret all on the 2nd floor of the Piper's Alley venue, 230 W. One of New England's most successful and historic theaters is modernizing its smaller venue on Congress Street in downtown Portsmouth. The newly named “The Music Hall Lounge” is an exciting new venue that will offer a nightclub vibe with flexible seating options, bar and food service, and an open concept that will appeal to a diverse audience. Formerly known as “The Loft,” the updated venue is currently under construction and will open early this summer. 

'Rainbows', originally issued on LP and tape in 1987, includes a handpicked and diverse selection of musical theatre songs, including songs from Mach & Mabel, The King and I, Porgy and Bess, Nine, the Wizard of Oz, and Les Miserables. The LP features a 47 piece orchestra under the expert musical direction of Harry Rabinowitz.

The Musical Theatre Guild will be presenting for one-night only A Sondheim Birthday Celebration Live! Laugh! Love! on Stephen Sondheim’s birthday March 22nd at The El Portal Theatre. Jason Graae hosts the Celebration featuring Musical Theatre Guild members with special guest, Stephen Sondheim veteran Teri Ralston. I got to playfully rouse Teri to reminisce about her decades’ history with Stephen Sondheim.

DC’S little jewel of a theatre company Washington Stage Guild (WSG) was built on producing the works of George Bernard Shaw. In its long and distinguished history of producing high quality theatre the company has produced over thirty productions of Shaw’s work.

Actress-singer Sally Kellerman, who achieved worldwide movie fame for her role as Margaret “Hot Lips” Houlihan in Robert Altman's classic 1970 film “M*A*S*H,” with Donald Sutherland and Elliott Gould, died early this morning (Feb. 24) in her sleep from heart failure at her home in Woodland Hills.  She was 84.  For her iconic role, she was nominated as “Best Supporting Actress” by both the Oscars and Golden Globes.  It was reported by her manager and publicist Alan Eichler.

From Wednesday 9th March (New Theatre, Cardiff) acclaimed actress, musician, TV presenter and Strictly Come Dancing star Louise Redknapp joins Oliver Farnworth (Dan Gallagher) as his wife, Beth and Susie Amy who takes on the role of Alex Forrest when Kym Marsh concludes her run in the tour on Saturday 5th March 2022.

CBS Sunday Morning reporter Jane Pauley interviewed Liza Minnelli this morning, discussing her famous parents, her legacy, collaborators throughout her career, awards, and inspirations. The special also features performances with Minnelli's 'best friend and confidant', Michael Feinstein, on piano and Liza herself on vocals.

KPFK Radio's Arts in Review, Los Angeles's longest-running radio showcase on live theater and cabaret, presents its annual Holiday Special, featuring the AIR Repertory Players under the direction of Irene Arranga, highlighted by the premiere of Christmastime in the City (the story of “Silver Bells”) and the encore of 2017's Christmas in Tinseltown (the story of “White Christmas”), both written by Julio Martinez.  Also featured is the holiday music of Al Jarreau and Jane Fuller.
