Boundless Theatre and Boom Shakalaka Productions today announce the full cast for new musical Parakeet welcoming Lula Mebrahtu, Isabel Oliver and Michelle Tiwo to the production. Parakeet will also star the show's creators Brigitte Aphrodite and Quiet Boy. Directed by Laura Keefe, it opens at Paines Plough's ROUNDABOUT @ Summerhall on 4 August, with previews from 31 July, and runs until 25 August.

Boundless Theatre and Boom Shakalaka Productions today announce the Edinburgh Festival Fringe run of new musical Parakeet by Brigitte Aphrodite and Quiet Boy. The pair renew their collaboration with director Laura Keefe following My Beautiful Black Dog, which toured the UK following a sold-out run at Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2015. The production opens at Paines Plough's ROUNDABOUT @ Summerhall on 4 August, with previews from 31 July, and runs until 25 August.

The Segal Centre for Performing Arts is proud to welcome back Rick Miller for the Montreal premiere of BOOM X, a Kidoons and WYRD in association with Theatre Calgary and The 20K Collective production. BOOM X is the second installment in Miller's trilogy of shows designed to tell a big-picture story: 75 years of history in this corner of our planet. While BOOM explored the Baby Boomer era, this sequel tells the story of Generation X: the 70s, 80s, and early 90s. Just in time for Valentine's Day, BOOM X rocks the Sylvan Adams Theatre at the Segal Centre from February 14 to March 10, 2019.

To celebrate the holiday season, National Geographic will make the first two episodes of the upcoming limited series Valley of the Boom available for free beginning December 21st in advance of the series' broadcast premiere. The two episodes will be released unauthenticated on NationalGeographic.com and on the National Geographic TV app, which includes mobile and connected devices such as AppleTV, Roku, Chromecast and more. Black Violin will continue their successful Classical Boom Tour. The band will return to the road after spending the summer working on their upcoming album due out in 2019. The tour is a continuation of their well-received winter run which included back-to-back sold out performances at The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C..

Black Violin is a blend of classical, hip-hop, rock, R&B, and bluegrass music performed by classically trained string instrumentalists Wil Baptiste and Kevin "Kev Marcus" Sylvester. Accompanied on stage by their incredible band, featuring ace turntable whiz DJ SPS, Black Violin perform as many as 200 shows a year, showcasing their distinctive sound that melds hard-hitting beats with the lush sounds of strings.
