George Bernard's Shaw's play is a sharp comedy that rides on a social commentary based on his beliefs that prostitution is not about moral failure but economic necessity. Awarding-winning director Eleanor Bishop ( Boys 2017) is both a writer and director creating feminist theatre. Bishop has deconstructed and re-framed Shaw's work adding an extra character in the form of Kitty Warren's sister Liz who provides a window from a of a sex worker's perspective.

Aux Dog Theatre Nob Hill is celebrating its big win this year as Best Live Theater Venue in Albuquerque the Magazine's BEST OF THE CITY. In February, Aux Dog Theatre Nob Hill will bring George Bernard Shaw's Mrs. Warren's Profession to the stage in an adaptation by Matthew Yde which was commissioned by the theatre over a year ago. Sedos presents a new production of the award-winning musical Dogfight at the Bridewell Theatre, off Fleet Street, from 6 - 10 March 2018. The musical, which has book by Peter Duchan and music and lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, is based on the 1991 movie of the same name starring River Phoenix.

The Railway Children is a delightful show with beautiful music and a wonderful message about the importance of kindness. The concert staged at Cadogan Hall featured lyrics and a book by Katie Lam and music by Alex Parker, who also conducted.

Very few works of art retain the power to shock and disturb that they showed on their opening night decades earlier. One of those is Richard Strauss's 1905 operaSalome. When it first appeared, this steamy brew of eroticism and religion so unnerved audiences that it was banned in Vienna and London. The opera's troubles didn't end there. In 1907, at New York's Metropolitan Opera, it was yanked from the company's repertoire just days after its premiere. At a semipublic dress rehearsal, the way in which the company's Salome, soprano Olive Fremstad, planted a passionate kiss on the severed head of John the Baptist, proved too disturbing for many of the timid Met patrons. The board revolted, demanding that General Manager Heinrich Conried bring Salome'srun to a halt. A statement was issued declaring that the work itself was objectionable and detrimental to the best interests of the Metropolitan Opera House.

Cosmic Designs is a world-premiere multimedia experience that pairs the inspiration of an orchestral concert with beautiful imagery of our home planet and the solar system beyond, brought to life by the National Philharmonic and NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center and sponsored by Lockheed Martin. This performance will consist of Claude Debussy's sea-themed La Mer, followed by Gustav Holst's majestic work, The Planets, and include new images from NASA's Scientific Visualization Studio. The National Philharmonic launches the new year at The Music Center at Strathmore with this out-of-this-world performance. The concert, conducted by Philharmonic Music Director and Conductor Piotr Gajewski, will take place Saturday, Jan. 27 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Jan. 28, at 3 p.m. Journey through this stunning multimedia presentation featuring original NASA images of our solar system and the Earth's seas, explore exhibits about the latest NASA discoveries and missions, engage in conversation with NASA scientists, and meet a NASA astronaut. During the performance, planetary scientists Gina Dibraccio and Geronimo Villanueva will discuss the projected images and the science behind them. Separate free pre-concert lectures with Philharmonic Associate Conductor Victoria Gau will be held in addition to NASA Q&As for adults and NASA Chats for kids. A NASA-themed pop-up gift shop will be on site, and audience members can learn from NASA-themed displays. The concerts are performed in Strathmore's Concert Hall. A Noise Within (ANW) presents the third production of its 26th season, Mrs. Warren's Profession by George Bernard Shaw, directed by Michael Michetti, performing October 8 through November 18, 2017 (Press Opening October 14). Yonder Window Theatre Company and Parity Productions have announced that writer/performer Romy Nordlinger's Places is among the selected performances for this year's East to Edinburgh at 59E59 Theaters (Val Day, Artistic Director; Brian Beirne, Managing Director). Places will play 6 performances in July before traveling to Edinburgh, Scotland for the 2017 Fringe Festival where it will have 25 performances over the month of August (4th - 27th).
