Last night (Friday, January 11, 2019) Disney Theatrical Productions hosted 'Disney Theatrical at 25: The Stars Align' at BroadwayCon in Manhattan. The lively panel was made up of some of the stars who created these indelible shows and characters in their original productions. Moderated by Disney Theatrical Productions head Thomas Schumacher, the panel was a fascinating and hilarious discussion filled with behind-the-scenes stories. Panelists included Christian Borle (Tony®-winning Black Stache in Peter and the Starcatcher), Ashley Brown(title role in Mary Poppins), Merle Dandridge (Kala in Tarzan), Susan Egan (Belle in Beauty and the Beast), James Monroe Iglehart(Tony-winning Genie in Aladdin), and Patti Murin (Anna in Frozen).

From December 20 to 23, La MaMa Experimental Theater in association the GOH Productions will present the fourth annual production of East Village Dance Project's The Shell-Shocked Nut, an alternative Nutcracker set in the East Village, featuring an intergenerational cast of dancers and musicians.  The piece is recommended for family audiences.

Shrek the Musical, the award-winning Broadway and West End smash hit enters its final weeks to complete a hugely successful second major tour of the UK and Ireland where it has now been seen by nearly 2.5 million people. Returning to the city where the very first UK tour started, audiences have just three weeks left to see the critically and publicly acclaimed production which opens tonight at Leeds Grand Theatre and must end on 6 January 2019.

American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) rings in 2019 with Edward Albee's Pulitzer Prize-winning play, Seascape. In her A.C.T. directorial debut, Artistic Director and Tony Award winner Pam MacKinnon-hailed as "the most prolific of directors of Edward Albee's plays" (The Daily Beast)-continues her career-long exploration of American theater's legendary playwright. MacKinnon won the 2013 Tony Award for the Broadway revival of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, starring Tracy Letts and Amy Morton.

Any one of us that has ever seen an animated feature or short produced by the Walt Disney Animation Studios knows that the music is always a big component in making the film a success. Let's face it, aren't you all still singing 'Let it Go' from Frozen even though the film is now five years old? Songs like that one and classics like 'Heigh Ho' and 'A Whole New World' are etched in our collective memories for a lifetime.

The show offers lots of nice voices and some incredible moments, but it's overall very inconsistent.

Exit 82 Theatre Company is bringing Little Shop of Horrors to Downtown Toms River this October with a theme fit for Halloween. Goodman Theatre adds to its 2018/2019 Season a limited engagement of St. Nicholas-an internationally-acclaimed major revival by London's Donmar Warehouse of Conor McPherson's 1997 intimate thriller, directed by Simon Evans. The monologue play stars Olivier Award-winning actor Brendan Coyle ("Mr. Bates" of the smash sensation Downton Abbey, for which he earned an Emmy Award nomination) in "a superlative, mesmerizing performance that's simply not to be missed" (The Arts Review). The U.S. premiere, which appears in the Goodman's 350-seat flexible Owen Theatre, follows two acclaimed recent appearances at the Donmar Warehouse and the Dublin Theatre Festival. The creative team includes Peter McKintosh (Set), Matt Daw (Lighting) and Christopher Shutt (Sound). NETworks Presentations, LLC, Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures and Unique Features, bring the Broadway musical ELF to the Saenger Theatre in New Orleans. Tickets will go on sale Friday, Oct. 12 at 10 a.m. for the Dec. 18-23, 2018 engagement.
