X Announces Additional Summer Tour Dates

The iconic punk rock band, X, have announced additional dates to be added to their spring/summer tour plans. Exene Cervenka, John Doe, Billy Zoom, and DJ Bonebrake will join The Damnedfor two co-headline dates; in Chicago on May 30, as well as an appearance at the Orange County Fair in California on July 6.  Additional summer tour dates announced below will feature an exciting variety of supporting acts such as Dead Rock West, Skating Polly, Folk Ukeand the Reverend Horton Heat.  All of this in addition to the joint tours already announced with Violent Femmes in May, Squeeze in September and additional dates still to be announced in the near future!

Regent's Park Theatre have today announced principal casting for their productions of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's Evita and Jesus Christ Superstar, alongside the full creative team for Evita.

The Art Institute of Chicago presents Sex, an exhibition with new works by Anne Imhof (b. 1978, Giessen) that opens to the public on May 30, and will include three days of live performances through June 1. Imhof has emerged as one of the most provocative and pioneering voices of her generation. Her work establishes a new paradigm for exhibitions and gives form to a sense of alienation and detachment that increasingly shapes our society. Sex shows the wide range of attitudes present in Imhof's practice, as the exhibition moves from a choreographed performance during its first days, to an installation including sculpture, painting and sound in the weeks that follow.

Violent Femmes Announce Co-Headline Tour with X

The one and only Violent Femmes have announced plans for a co-headline tour with the legendary X, set to get underway May 5th at Humphrey's in San Diego, CA. Violent Femmes will perform at Brooklyn Bowl in Las Vegas, NV and BeachLife in Redondo Beach, CA ahead of the co-headline dates. The month kicks off with local songstress Melveen Leed and the return of the Honolulu Jazz Quartet presenting a Tribute to Bird & Dizzy: The Birth of Bebop. Good music runs in the Artis family, so don't miss PraiseJesus Artis in her Blue Note debut. Jazz talent Abe Lagrimas Jr. is up next, followed by the Na Hoku “Female Vocalist of the Year” Kimié Miner. Paula Fuga returns with a tribute to Aretha Franklin and soul-singer DeAndre Brackensick is back with Shawn Pimental. We welcome Willie K back to the stage following a successful mainland tour and present the Blue Note debut of Kamuela Kahoano. The youngest of the family, Rodney Cazimero joins us later in the month followed by local giants Kumuhau,Brother Noland & John Cruz and Kuana Torres Kahele presenting 'Kakuhihewa, his tribute to O'ahu.

In celebration of their 40th Anniversary, JOHN LYDON's PUBLIC IMAGE LTD (PiL) have announcedTHE PUBLIC IMAGE IS ROTTEN: NORTH AMERICAN TOUR, will kick off in New Orleans on Tuesday, October 9 (see below for all dates). Tickets go on-sale starting Friday, July 13 at 10:00AM local time. Further PUBLIC IMAGE LTD activity includes the release of THE PUBLIC IMAGE IS ROTTEN acareer–spanning box set (out July 20) and a new documentary film of the same name, the latter of which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York and at London's Raindance Festival. Directed byTabbert Fiiller and released by Abramorama, the film will make its North American theatrical premiere on Friday, September 14 in New York City at Metrograph with more theatrical dates in October-November to coincide with PiL's North American fall tour. Legendary ballet costume designer HOLLY HYNES and costume and scenic designer ZACK BROWN are among the 2018 TDF/Irene Sharaff Award recipients which were just announced by TDF, the not-for-profit service organization for the performing arts. Ms. Hynes was selected to receive the 2018 TDF/Irene Sharaff Lifetime Achievement Award for costume design and Mr. Brown will receive the Robert L. B. Tobin Award for Sustained Excellence in Theatrical Design. The awards are presented through TDF's Costume Collection. The awards will be presented at a ceremony on Friday, April 20, at 6:30pm, at the Edison Ballroom (240 West 47th Street).
