Ballet Tech’s Kids Dance will return to The Joyce Theater (175 Eighth Avenue) with a program devised by the organization’s new artistic director, Dionne D. The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts today announces its 2022–2023 Theater Season featuring the return of the Kennedy Center's acclaimed, self-produced Broadway Center Stage series. The series will include Stephanie J. Block starring in Sunset Boulevard.

Yale Repertory Theatre has announced its 2022–23 season of four plays. The season will begin with Edward Albee’s Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, running October 6–29. James Bundy, who directed Albee’s A Delicate Balance at Yale Rep in 2010, will stage this new production of the explosively comedic and harrowingly profound masterpiece. 

The newest production in SDSU’s New Musical Initiative, Postcard American Town will have its world premiere from April 29 – May 5, 2022. Written by Lynne Shankel and Crystal Skillman, this world premiere production will be directed by Professor Stephen Brotebeck, and music directed by Professor Robert Meffe from the School of Theatre, Television, and Film.

Central City Opera has announced the passing of Artistic Director Emeritus John Moriarty. Moriarty died in his home located in Fall River, Mass. on January 5th at the age of 91.

But when all is said and done, after the big speeches are made and the morals have been imparted, TOOTSIE's 1982 DNA proves inextricable. Its parting lesson is fundamentally that women should be women and men should be men. The show's progressivism is limited to a fairly surface-level, lighthearted second-wave feminism that never rises above a 'very special episode' of any '80s sitcom. (Indeed, Michael's apartment set looks strikingly sitcomish, and all the dialogue there fits the bill.)
