The concert took place in an ecclesiological Gothic Revival style church built in 1911 - 1912 with a behemoth organ at its centre. The architectural grandeur of the vast sanctuary enhances the natural acoustics of the string quartet, the vaulted ceilings allowing for longer reverberation times. With thousands of candles delicately placed throughout the space, the ambience was surreal as night fell upon us.

Winner of the 2019 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, FAIRVIEW written by Jackie Sibblies Drury, makes its Los Angeles Premiere at Rogue Machine, directed by Oz Scott who I spoke with about his vision for the production.

Despite its title, its well-intentioned if cynical nod to diplomacy, Oz Scott’s production is a swift kick to the nether regions. You will probably laugh – hard and often, and you will emerge after 100 minutes with plenty to discuss.

For me, the message of this play is that family is the most important thing. Having, keeping, and surviving those family ties and those memories.
