Theater J's 2019 Annual Benefit Performance is an unforgettable evening of musical theater at the newly renovated Edlavitch DCJCC on November 18 at 6:30 PM. The centerpiece of the event, which also includes food, drink, and socializing, is a special musical performance of After Anatevka: a Novel Based on a?oeFiddler on the Roofa?? written and performed by Grammy-nominated artist and author Alexandra Silber. Silber, who has appeared in Fiddler on the Roof on Broadway (directed by Bartlett Sher) and the West End, imagines what happens to Sholem Alecheim's beloved characters of Fiddler on the Roof after they step off stage. The performance features new songs composed by some of the top rising talent in musical theater today and sung by the gifted Silber, who recently played Sally Bowles in Cabaret at Olney Theatre Center.

Loretta Greco, Artistic Director of Magic Theatre, has announced that she will depart the organization after twelve years as its artistic leader. Mosaic Theater Company of DC launches its 5th season this month with the DC premiere of Lynn Nottage's Fabulation, Or The Re-Education of Undine, previewing August 21 (see our August 1 Fabulation press release for opening night information, and our March 29 a?oe#Wokeseason5a?? release for full season line-up), exactly one month after the close of the most successful show in Mosaic's history, the co-production of Kelvin Roston Jr.'s Twisted Melodies, which sold out its last week of performances, playing to record crowds and box office, providing the capstone to a season of transformative artistic and fundraising achievements. 

For his starring role in Netflix's groundbreaking first original series, 'Lilyhammer,' actormusician Steven Van Zandt explored uncharted waters as a New York mobster who flees to Norway under the witness protection program. In addition to acting in, co-writing and co-producing the acclaimed show as well as directing the final episode, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer also scored the music for most of the three seasons, where just like his character, the musician best known as Little Steven of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band and an accomplished solo artist who helped pioneer the rock-meets-soul sound, also delved into some terrain foreign to him: the worlds of New York jazz and Norwegian folk music.

As Little Steven gets ready to embark on his North American Summer Of Sorcery tour in support of the recently released new album, the ever-prolific Rock and Roll Hall Of Famer is excited to share two more songs from his forthcoming score for 'Lilyhammer,' Netflix's first-ever series that actormusician Steven Van Zandt starred in, co-wrote and co-produced from 2012-2014. The swinging jazz tune, 'Lilyhammer Nocturne (Theme From Lilyhammer),' and the bluesy rocker 'Espresso Martini,' showcase the diversity and eclecticism found on the two corresponding volumes of the 'Lilyhammer' score which will be released for the first time on July 12 via Wicked CoolUMe as two separate albums: Volume 1: Jazz and Volume 2: Folk, Rock, Rio, Bits And Pieces.
