In celebration of 85 Years of Theatre By The Sea (TBTS), owner and producer Bill Hanney is proud to announce the opening of the rousing, rollicking rock opera Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, which will be presented from July 25 - August 12, 2018.

Four wildly talented actor-musicians deliver a toe-tapping, hand-clapping, sing-along summer experience for all generations in Woody Sez: The Life & Music of Woody Guthrie, back by popular demand at People's Light. Folk revolutionary Guthrie showed you can strum a revolution with joy. Current troubadour David M. Lutken and friends celebrate the fascinating, beautiful, and sometimes tragic life of the legend who inspired Dylan, Springsteen, DiFranco, and an entire songwriting tradition. Featuring 15 instruments, 25 songs, and comprised almost entirely of Guthrie's own words, Woody Sez runs August 1-26 on the Leonard C. Haas Stage in Malvern.

The MTH Theater at Crown Center has announced casting for its August production of Mel Brooks' mega-hit musical comedy THE PRODUCERS.

Everything is thoroughly modern at Mercer County Community College's (MCCC's) Kelsey Theatre as M&M Stage Productions presents "Thoroughly Modern Millie." Dates and times for this fun, flirty, flapper musical are Fridays, July 27 and Aug. 3 at 8 p.m.; Saturdays July 28 and Aug. 4 at 8 p.m.; and Sundays, July 29 and Aug. 5 at 2 p.m.

The first musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice to be produced for the professional stage, Jesus Christ Superstar has wowed audiences for over 40 years. A timeless work, the rock opera is set against the backdrop of an extraordinary and universally-known series of events but seen, unusually, through the eyes of Judas Iscariot. Loosely based on the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, Superstar follows the last week of Jesus Christ's life. The story, told entirely through song, explores the personal relationships and struggles between Jesus, Judas, Mary Magdalene, his disciples, his followers and the Roman Empire.

Turner Classic Movies (TCM) will pay homage to the glittering world of Hollywood musicals with Mad About Musicals!, a special month of programming celebrating timeless movie musicals such as The Wizard of Oz, Singin' in the Rain and Cabaret. TCM is once again partnering with Ball State University and Canvas to offer a free online multimedia course tied to this programming special about the history of the musical genre and its evolution with cultural and technological shifts. With direction and performance by Miguel Falabella, the revival of The Producers will be in short season at Teatro Procopio Ferreira in Sao Paulo. Then the production follows to Rio de Janeiro, when it opens on July 13, at Teatro Vivo Rio.

Patio Playhouse Community Theater presents The Sisters Rosensweig by Wendy Wasserstein, opening Friday, May 4. This comedy, set in 1991, drops us solidly in Sara Goode's drawing room in London on her 54th birthday, as she awaits the arrival of her two sisters, Gorgeous and Pfeni. Add in the unexpected arrival of a handful of guests (the whip-smart daughter, an ostentatious theater director, a working-class boy boy primed to take Sara's teenage daughter abroad, a 'fun furrier' from Brooklyn, and Sara's priggish banker boyfriend) -- and, well, we are off and running into a spectacle of wit and humor before you can even say, 'Sweetsie, there's always activity in this house!'

Patio Playhouse Youth Theater is proud to present the school edition of Sweeney Todd, The Demon Barber of Fleet Street appearing through April 8th at the intimate Kalmia and Grand theater. Sweeney Todd, with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by Hugh Wheeler, is darkly witty and, in its original Broadway premiere, was awarded eight Tony Awards (including Best Musical). Since then, the show has become a worldwide success and this school edition adaptation, presented by Patio Playhouse's talented youth, is a treat to behold!

In this charming comedy, Herb, a Hollywood scriptwriter currently 'at liberty,' is surprised when his forgotten past reappears in the form of Libby, a teenage daughter who has trekked from Brooklyn with dreams of movie stardom. With Steffy (his sometime paramour) at his side, Herb decides to take another stab at fatherhood and -- hopefully -- this time, get it right. This hilarious piece by Neil Simon has all of the humor you'd expect when dropping a long-lost and nearly-grown daughter into her father's Hollywood home, but also addresses family dynamics head on, and touches on how, in finding where you come from, you just might find who you are meant to be.
