When I began re-reading the original material I instantly felt drawn to a circus backdrop in terms of design and aesthetic. The Rehearsal for Truth Theater Festival honoring Václav Havel has announced that Edward Einhorn will be taking over the job of Artistic Director for its seventh season of work.

The Museum of Modern Art has purchased 212 films and videos by the American artist Ken Jacobs (b. 1933). These join 14 titles by Jacobs that were already in the Museum's collection, making MoMA the singular repository of works by one of the great moving-image artists of the 20th and 21st centuries.

Babes With Blades Theatre Company's (BWBTC) 2023 season opens with an extended run of its new works festival, collectively called Fighting Words, June 17– 25 at The Edge Off Broadway, 1133 W. Catalpa.  All performances are free to the public and audiences can provide feedback on the scripts following each reading.

The Vaclav Havel Library Foundation and Bohemian Benevolent and Literary Association will present the 2023 Rehearsal for Truth Theater Festival honoring playwright and human rights activist Vaclav Havel. From June 2 to June 14, the Bohemian National Hall will feature award-winning performances from the Czech Republic, Germany, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, and the US.

Sarasota Opera has announced the lineup for the 2023 Summer Classic Movies at the Opera House. The Classic Movies at the Opera House series featuring many beloved movies will open on Friday, May 12th at 7:30 pm with 2001: A Space Odyssey. Babes With BladesTheatre Company, currently presenting Richard III through October 15 at The Edge Theatre, will continue its season with Plaid as Hell, written by Cat McKay and directed by Christina Casano, October 29 - November 19 at The Factory Theater, 1623 W. Howard St. Previews are Saturday, Oct. 29 at 8 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 30 at 3 p.m. and Wednesday, Nov. 2 at 8 p.m.
