dick clark productions and NBC announced today that record-breaking singer, songwriter, mother and muse Mariah Carey will receive the coveted ICON Award at the "2019 Billboard Music Awards." The true definition of an icon, Carey has been smashing records since she debuted on the music scene in 1990 with her self-titled album. Over the next three decades she continued to rule the charts, creating anthems, and snapshots of pop culture history along the way. Carey will take the stage during the three-hour telecast, to accept the ICON Award and perform a show stopping medley of her greatest hits. The "2019 Billboard Music Awards," with returning host Kelly Clarkson, will broadcast from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Wednesday, May 1 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC and will feature this year's hottest musical acts, unexpected collaborations and buzzworthy moments.

When visited by the ghost of former business partner Jacob Marley, Ebenezer Scrooge examines his past, present, and future and learns the true spirit of the season, with the help of three ghosts along the way.

Lantern Theater Company is thrilled to announce the world premiere of an original adaptation of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, commissioned and developed through the Lantern's New Play Program and co-created by Philadelphia-based artists Anthony Lawton, Christopher Colucci, and Thom Weaver. THE EIGHT: REINDEER MONOLOGUES, a very dark Christmas comedy written by Jeff Goode and well suited for the 'Me too' era, is slated for a limited engagement Off-Broadway run this holiday season, Wednesday, December 12th - Thursday, January 3rd at St. Luke's Theater. The production is directed by Andrew Benvenuti and being produced by Sara Laursen and The Drama Club NYC, a newly formed arts organization that comes right out the gate staging a piece that LA Weekly describes as a 'hilarious and intelligent middle finger to all the candy-coated commercialism of the yuletide season.'

McCarter Theatre Center is proud to announce the return of A Christmas Carol, directed by Adam Immerwahr. This family-friendly production runs December 4 - 29 in the Matthews Theatre. Los Angeles Children's Chorus (LACC), one of the world's leading children's choirs, celebrates the holidays with its annual Winter Concert, entitled "Winter Wonderland: Sounds of the Season," which marks the first stand-alone program led by the Chorus' new Artistic Director, Fernando Malvar-Ruiz, on two consecutive Sundays, December 9 and 16, 2018, at 7:30 pm, at Pasadena Presbyterian Church. Berkeley Repertory Theatre today announced the full cast and creative team for Paradise Square: An American Musical. The world premiere is helmed by acclaimed director Moises Kaufman, with choreography by the legendary Bill T. Jones and a book by Marcus Gardley, Craig Lucas, and Larry Kirwan. Music by Jason Howland and Larry Kirwan, with lyrics by Nathan Tysen, and based on the songs of Stephen Foster. Paradise Square is produced by special arrangement with Garth H. Hailed for its "compelling and innovative programming (WQXR Radio)," dell'Arte Opera Ensemble today announced its 17th annual summer festival: Voices from the Tower exclusively featuring works composed by women.  The season will include the commissioned world premiere of Princess Maleine, with a libretto (based on the play by Maurice Maeterlinck) by Bea Goodman and music by Whitney George, and the first opera ever composed by a woman, La liberazione di Ruggiero by Francesca Caccini (1625), with a libretto by Ferdinando Saracinelli.  A scenes program will feature Cendrillon by Pauline Viardot and other operatic scenes by Thea Musgrave, Victoria Bond and others, and "Les Boulangers" will be a recital of songs featuring the works of Lili and Nadia Boulanger, their contemporaries and students.

As the Halloween season comes to a close, Freeform will continue to be the home for all holiday programming as the brand-new “Kickoff To Christmas” programming event starts on NOV. 1. Adding a month full of holiday fun, the programming event will also include the premiere of the Freeform original film “The Truth About Christmas,” from MarVista Entertainment, airing SUNDAY, NOV. 25 at 9:00-11:00 p.m. EST/PST.

The Jeff Awards will celebrate its 50th anniversary by presenting four Special Awards to theatres thriving after more than 50 years at the 50th Annual Equity Jeff Awards on Monday, October 22 at Drury Lane Theatre, 100 Drury Lane, Oakbrook Terrace, IL.  These four award-winning theatres laid their Chicago foundations in drama, comedy, and musical theatre more than half a century ago and have endured to this day. The 2018 recipients are Goodman Theatre (1925), Drury Lane Productions (1949), Court Theatre (1955), and The Second City (1959). Collectively, they have received more than 1,400 nominations and 350 awards, dating back to the first ceremony.

Following the announcement of their Opening Night Film, Yen Tan's award-winning AIDS drama 1985, NewFest today announced the full lineup of their 30th annual celebration of the year's best LGBT films from around the world. The program of more than 140 narrative features, documentaries, episodic series and shorts runs from October 24-30 at the SVA Theatre, Cinépolis Chelsea, and The LGBT Community Center in New York City.

From October 6 to 27 at the Upper East Side's Bohemian National Hall and Jan Hus Church, GOH Productions will present a Centennial Heritage Festival, featuring mainstage marionette theater productions for adults and kids and musical concerts for audiences of all ages. The festival celebrates two auspicious anniversaries: the Centennial Anniversary of the founding of Czechoslovakia (1918) and the Millennial Anniversary of the unification of the Lands of the Czech Crown, under Duke Oldrich (1018).
