The Majestic Theatre announced its line-up of shows for the 2020-2021 North Park Lexus Broadway in San Antonio Season, and the line-up features a mix of revivals, Broadway Blockbusters, a dramatic adaptation of a classic novel and pop culture favorites for a season that offers diversity and broad appeal.

The Cathedral of St. John the Divine continues its 2019-2020 season of Great Music in a Great Space with This Fragile Earth, a celebration of nature's exquisite beauty in collaboration with world music ensemble Rose of the Compass, on Monday, February 10, 2020 at 7:30 pm at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, 1047 Amsterdam Avenue (at 112th Street), Manhattan.

Audiences are getting ready to head to Skid Row this fall! As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Howard Ashman and Alan Menken's classic sci-fi musical Little Shop of Horrors is returning to New York at the Westside Theatre, with previews beginning September 17th and opening night set for October 17th. The production is set to run for a limited engagement through November 24th. The Bright Smoke from Brooklyn announce their third, forthcoming album, Gross National Happiness, due out Friday, July 5. Just as Summer 2019 is predicted to become one of the hottest on record, SEA LEVEL RISE: A DYSTOPIAN COMEDY has been chosen as one of the official selections of the 2019 Broadway Bound Theatre Festival. Intended to spearhead theater's entry into the climate change conversation, the new comedy written by Henry Feldman and directed by Ted Thompson will have a strictly limited engagement - playing just three performances only: Wednesday, July 31 at 8pm; Friday, August 2 at 5pm and Saturday, August 3 at 2pm in the Lion Theatre at Theatre Row.

Today, D23, the official Disney fan club, has announced the eleven recipients for the 2019 Disney Legends Award. This year's recipients are Bette Midler, Wing Chao, Robert Downey Jr., Jon Favreau, James Earl Jones, Kenny Ortega, Barnette Ricci, Robin Roberts, Diane Sawyer, Ming-Na Wen, and Hans Zimmer. 

91 Central Productions in association with Anemone Productions will present the World Premiere of The Battles of Richmond Hill a new comedy by Penny Jackson (I Know What Boys Want at the Lion Theatre; A Different Place in the 2017 FRIGID Festival), directed by Kathy Gail MacGowan (Kentucky Cantata at HERE; In the Summer Pavilion at 59E59) at HERE (145 Sixth Avenue, enter on Dominick Street, one block south of Spring Street), April 26-May 11.

BroadwayHD, the world's premiere online streaming platform delivering more than 250 premium live productions to theatre fans globally, today announced that the Geffen Playhouse production of the Drama Desk Award-winning piece The Lion will debut on the platform December 6.  The Lion will join Pulitzer Prize-winning show Long Day's Journey Into Night, and Pulitzer Prize Finalist Play Thom Pain, as the third title to stream on the platform, in partnership with Geffen Playhouse.  The show is directed by Kevin S. Disney's hit West End musicals Aladdin and The Lion King have today announced that a summer Pop-Up will open its doors to Disney fans old and new in Covent Garden throughout August. Located at 25 Long Acre in the heart of Theatreland, the Pop-Up will be open every day from Tuesday 31st July until Sunday 26th August with a host of free interactive experiences and special events to enjoy.

The Award was presented at the Foundation's annual gala event on April 2, 2018 in New York City, at the Bohemian National Hall.

George Street Playhouse, located at 103 College Farm Road in New Brunswick, today announced Jonathan Kite (TV's 2 Broke Girls) will play the titular role in Larry Shue's The Nerd, on stage April 24 - May 20, 2018. Kevin Cahoon, who has appeared in many Broadway productions, including The Wedding Singer and The Lion King, will direct the popular comedy, which closes out GSP's mainstage season.

Broadway vets Lainie Sakakura and Alex Sanchez ushered in the Year of the Dog at P.S. 87 - William T. Sherman School's Annual Pan Asian Lunar New Year celebration, with a little help from their Asian American Broadway friends on February 9, 2018.

Nathan Lane appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert last night, where he talked about his upcoming role in Angels in America. Lane also gave his well wishes to Billy Eichner who will be voicing Timon in the upcoming Lion King film.

Children's Theatre Company, in collaboration with Penumbra Theatre, presents THE WIZ. At the time of its opening on Broadway in 1974, THE WIZ was a modern retelling of The Wizard of Oz, featuring Soul-inspired songs and an entirely African-American cast. It was later adapted into a popular 1978 film starring Diana Ross and a young Michael Jackson. The Children's Theatre Company's production of THE WIZ opened on January 23rd and will run through March 18th.
