As I and other college students around the country are gearing up to go home for the holidays, I can’t  help but begin to get excited about the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

There are many components that make up the classic Thanksgiving experience, but nothing screams Turkey Time more than the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Today we rewind to 2015, when Parade returned to the stage with Manhattan Concert Productions. The special concert event was directed by Gary Griffin and starred Jeremy Jordan, Laura Benanti, Joshua Henry, Katie Rose Clarke and Ramin Karimloo.

Javier Munoz shared the story of his very first pride parade! Munoz talks about how, right after marriage equality was passed in New York State, he was one of the people chosen to march in the parade alongside the governor, helping him hold the banner.

American Blues Theater, under the continued leadership of Artistic Director Gwendolyn Whiteside, announces the winner of the 2020 Blue Ink Playwriting Award is Recent Unsettling Events by Andrea Stolowitz. A staged reading of the play will be presented as part of the 2020 Blue Ink Playwriting Festival, along with new work by finalists Football Football Football Football (or I Love Lave Dash) by Kristoffer Diaz, The Mermaids' Parade by Gina Femia, and Crying on Television by R. As part of its 2019 Fall Puppet Performance Series, the Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry at the University of Connecticut is pleased to present The Three Little Pigs by Crabgrass Puppet Theatre on Oct. 26, 2019 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the Ballard Institute Theater, located at 1 Royce Circle in Downtown Storrs. In celebration of Trick-or-Treat in Downtown Storrs from 3-5 p.m., show attendees are invited to dress in their Halloween costumes and participate in a post-performance Halloween parade in the theater.

Last week, the New York-based singer, songwriter and acclaimed pianist Jon Regen announced his first album in four years Higher Ground with the release of the debut single 'Wide Awake.' Finnish post-punk legends Musta Paraati will be releasing their first new album in 34 years this October through Cleopatra Records. The 'Black Parade' LP features 11 tracks in English. 10 of these are new and 'The Leader' is a new English rendition of their song 'Johtaja', which released as a single in 1983. The band is previewing this track ahead of the album release.
