BRIGHT STAR Opens Florida Studio Theatre's 2019-2020 Mainstage Season

Florida Studio Theatre (FST) opens its 46th Winter Mainstage Season with the Florida Premiere of the uplifting, five-time Tony-nominated musical, Bright Star. Called a?oeA shining achievementa?? by The New York Times, Bright Star tells a story of love and forgiveness set against the vibrant backdrop of the American South in the 1940s. With Music, Book, and Story by Steve Martin and Music, Lyrics, and Story by Edie Brickell, Bright Star will run in FST's Gompertz Theatre starting November 6.

Asolo Repertory Theatre proudly kicks off its highly anticipated 2019-20 season with Rodgers and Hammerstein's beloved classic THE SOUND OF MUSIC. This Tony Award-winning musical sensation will be directed and choreographed by Josh Rhodes (Broadway: Bright Star, It Shoulda Been You, First Date, Rodgers + Hammerstein's Cinderella). Rhodes returns to Asolo Rep where he previously directed and choreographed the theatre's record-breaking smash hit production of Evita in 2017 and Guys and Dolls in 2016.

Casts Named For Theatre Odyssey's One-Act Play Festival

Director of the Conservatory and the show, Greg Leaming, will put a modern spin on this ancient tale of right versus wrong. Florida Studio Theatre (FST) opens its fourth annual Children's Theatre Season with Pinocchio, a new, fast-paced adaptation of Carlo Collodi's timeless classic by Greg Banks. Produced through special arrangement with Plays for Young Audiences, this play centers on a misbehaving wooden puppet who dreams of becoming a real boy, but must avoid mischief in order to make his dream come true. Pinocchio will be performed in FST's Keating Theatre for the general public on Saturdays and select Sundays starting October 12.
