Central Coast Theatre Company proudly presents its summer production of Shrek the Musical, running July 10 and 11 at 7:00 PM, with two performances on July 12 at 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM. Based on the beloved DreamWorks animated film, this larger-than-life musical comedy promises a vibrant blend of humor, heart, and showstopping performances for the entire family. Directed by Victoria Prado, with assistant direction by Sean Woodring, musical direction by Mark Robertshaw, and choreography by Joel Wadlow, Victoria Prado, Elle Dela Cruz, and Joseph Souza, the production brings together 46 performers from across the Central Coast. With a mix of familiar faces and exciting new talent, Shrek the Musical is a joyful celebration of storytelling and theatrical magic. In the title role, Jon Estes transforms into the lovable green ogre who longs for solitude but ends up on a life-changing journey with a wisecracking donkey and a fiercely independent princess. Joining him as Princess Fiona is Alexx Asencio, bringing strength, vulnerability, and stunning vocals to a character whose quirks make her all the more lovable. Hunter McCormick takes on the role of Donkey, delivering boundless energy and irresistible comedic flair that lights up the stage. Landen Sheridan plays the hilariously villainous Lord Farquaad, performing on his knees with outrageous physical comedy and commanding presence. Gracie Dodson voices the soulful Dragon, while Alex Newton leads the band of banished fairytale creatures as a spirited Pinocchio. The show features a strong ensemble of returning and first-time CCTC performers, all of whom contribute to the rich, dynamic world of Shrek’s swamp and beyond. Now in its second season, Central Coast Theatre Company continues to bring bold and imaginative theatre to the Central Coast, with its third season announcement just around the corner. Shrek the Musical features fan-favorite songs like “Big Bright Beautiful World,” “I Know It’s Today,” “Freak Flag,” and “I’m a Believer,” alongside a hilariously extravagant tap number in “Morning Person” that takes the energy to a whole new level. With imaginative sets, colorful costumes, and playful staging, this production pulls out all the stops to delight audiences of all ages. Tickets are available now. Come laugh, sing, and let your freak flag fly with Central Coast Theatre Company this July.
