The Prince Part 1 is the first half of a two-part, six-act world premiere written and directed by Artistic Director Gary Graves, representing the culmination of his decades-long exploration of Niccolò Machiavelli and Renaissance Florence. The play follows young Machiavelli's entry into Florentine politics, including his mission to the 'Mad Monk' Girolamo Savonarola and his encounter with the ruthless Duke Cesare Borgia. The cast includes Mark Farrell, Brennan Pickman-Thoon, Kevin Singer, Marah Sotelo, and Michael Ray Wisely. This production marks the 80th world premiere for Central Works, a Berkeley-based theater company closing at the end of its 36th season.
