Elim Chan conducts the San Francisco Symphony in a program of works inspired by literature, love, and nature. The program opens with Mendelssohn's Overture to A Midsummer Night's Dream, written by the composer at age 17, followed by Berlioz's Les Nuits d'été with mezzo-soprano Sasha Cooke. The program continues with Wagner's Prelude and Liebestod from Tristan und Isolde and closes with Debussy's impressionistic La Mer.
