Based on the hit film and the incredible true story, Catch Me If You Can is the high-flying musical comedy about chasing your dreams and not getting caught. Nominated for four Tony awards, including Best Musical, this delightfully entertaining show was created by a Tony Award-winning dream team, with a book by Terrence McNally (The Full Monty, Ragtime) and a swinging score by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman (Hairspray).Seeking fame and fortune, precocious teenager, Frank Abignale, Jr., runs away from home to begin an unforgettable adventure. With nothing more than his boyish charm, a big imagination and millions of dollars in forged checks, Frank successfully poses as a pilot, a doctor and a lawyer living the high life and winning the girl of his dreams. When Franks lies catch the attention of FBI agent, Carl Hanratty, though, Carl pursues Frank across the country to make him pay for his crimes.

Paul Morgavo

Frank Abagnale, Sr.
Paul Morgavo is an Actor, Singer, Director and Stage Manager who has been entertaining audiences for over 35 years. A SoCal native and former U.S. Marine, Paul has performed in venues all across The United States, Canada, and England. He’s had the honor of performing alongside Grammy Award winners and Broadway veterans in some of San Diego’s finest theaters including: Old Globe, Moonlight , SDMT, Welk Resort, New Village Arts, ion theatre, North Coast Rep., Starlight Bowl, San Diego Lyric Opera and many more. -Many thanks to Erin, Gary, and Jill; after two years I’m thrilled we’ve finally made it to the stage.

Andrea Petsinger (Paula Abignale): Andrea is excited to be making her debut with SDMT. Prior to relocating to California, Andrea had the pleasure of performing with Belinda King Productions based in the UK, highlighted by the tribute show, AN EVENING WITH TIM RICE, wherein she had the pleasure of meeting the legendary lyricist himself, Sir Tim Rice. Favorite roles include Peggy Jones, THE ANDREW’S BROTHERS, Show Palace Theatre; Johanna (cover), SWEENEY TODD, St. Petersburg Opera; Lottie, MACK & MABEL, Theatre Zone. When she isn’t performing or teaching, she enjoys tending to her plants and doting on her cat, Buta.

Debra is thrilled to be back at SDMT where she has appeared in Hairspray, Billy Elliot, Footloose, Sound of Music, La Cage Aux Folles, and White Christmas. She is a resident artist at Cygnet: Spring Awakening, My Fair Lady, Dogfight, On the 20th Century, A Little Night Music and Angels in America Parts 1 & 2 (Craig Noel Award). Other San Diego theatre highlights: Moxie: Handbagged! (Craig Noel nomination) Hamlet (Gertrude) at Intrepid; Titanic & Sunset Blvd. at Moonlight; Permanent Collection at Mo’olelo; Full Monty (Vicki) at New Village Arts; Anything Goes! (Reno) Oliver! Sutheshna is excited to make her first debut at SDMT, playing Agent Cod! Her last production was an original outdoor performance she helped write the script and lyrics for, called "Block by Block" with Maraya Performing Arts. Her recent and favorite stage credits include Comedy of Errors (Adriana), Coronado Playhouse, Rocky Horror (Janet), OB Playhouse, Hall Pass (Olivia/Collette), Blindspot Collective as part of La Jolla Playhouse's WOW festival, and Chasing Fear: a staged reading (Voska), Cygnet Theatre. Dennis is so excited to be making his SDMT debut! Welcome back to live theatre! He obtained his BFA in Musical Theatre from Central Washington University. Previous credits include Green Day’s American Idiot, Altar Boyz, The Drowsy Chaperone, The Memorandum, and countless others. Karina Johnson

Karina Johnson is ecstatic to be making her SDMT debut in Catch Me If You Can as part of the female ensemble. Her credits include working with California Rhythm Project in Hollywood and Vine, TapRoots, and Beats Without Borders. She has worked at Coronado Playhouse in The Addams Family as an ancestor. She teaches dance classes at Rap A Tap Center For The Arts, where she trained as a dancer herself. She was also trained in the musical theatre conservatory at CoSA. Karina can’t wait to grace the stage once more.


Annika Knapp

Ensemble
Annika is currently 18 years old and is a freshman at Grossmont Community College where she is majoring in dance. Past credits include Thea in Spring Awakening, Eliza Dolittle in My Fair Lady, and she was cast as a Narrator in Joseph and The Amazing Technicolored Dreamcoat. Annika also participates in multiple dance shows a year. This is Annika’s first performance with San Diego Musical Theater and she is thrilled to be a part of the cast.

Donny Gersonde is happy to be performing with SDMT in what is his 10th production with them! He was recently seen as Bobby in A Chorus Line at the Moonlight, other credits include The Monster in Young Frankenstein, Moose in Crazy For You, and Hannah in La Cage aux Folles (SDMT), Diesel in West Side Story, Karl the Giant in Big Fish, Patrice in Ring Round the Moon (Lambs Players), Spamalot, and Shockheaded Peter (Cygnet). Xavier J. Bush (he/him) is jazzed to be joining the SDMT team! He has been seen both on stage and been behind the table for many productions coast to coast. Most recently he was seen as Richie Walters in A Chorus Line at The Moonlight and also choreographed the Moonlight Youth Theatre production of The Wizard of Oz. Richard Dueñez Morrison

Musical Director
Richard Dueñez Morrison is a San Diego-based music director, voice teacher, and theater educator. He holds a master’s degree in musical theater from San Diego State University and a bachelor’s degree in stage management from Webster University. Locally, he has worked with The Old Globe, San Diego Opera, Cygnet Theatre, Moonlight Stage Productions, Diversionary Theatre, San Diego Civic Light Opera, Coronado Playhouse, San Diego Junior Theatre, and San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts (alumnus), among others. Nationally, he has worked with Radio City Productions, Goodspeed Musicals, The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, New York University, and Indiana University, among others. Favorite musicals include Sweeney Todd, Nine, Andrew Lippa’s A Little Princess, The Will Rogers Follies, and Caroline, or Change.
