The Old Globe today announced the complete cast and creative team for the Southern California premiere of The Brothers Size by award-winning playwright Tarell Alvin McCraney. Directed by Tea Alagi?, The Brothers Size will run Jan. 26 - Feb. 24, 2013 in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Preview performances run Jan. 26 - Jan. 30. Opening night is Thursday, Jan. 31 at 8:00 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online at www.TheOldGlobe.org, by phone at (619) 23-GLOBE or by visiting the Box Office at 1363 Old Globe Way in Balboa Park.
Marin Theatre Company Presents WAITING FOR GODOT, 1/24-2/17

Marin Theatre Company begins 2013 and the second half of its critically acclaimed 46th Season with Samuel Beckett's modern classic, Waiting for Godot, which runs from January 24 to February 17. MTC's artistic director Jasson Minadakis directs, returning to "this greatest of 20th-century plays" (The New York Times) over a decade after he first directed an "excellent, electrifying" (The Cincinnati Enquirer) production at Cincinnati Shakespeare Festival. MTC's production features a talented cast: Oregon Shakespeare Festival company member Mark Bedard, popular Bay Area actors James Carpenter and Mark Anderson Philips and Cirque du Soliel and Ringling Bros. clown Ben Johnson, as well as two local southern Marin youths. Opening night is on Tuesday, January 29.

Diversionary Theatre announced complete casting for its production of Birds of a Feather, an LGPT comedy about family by Marc Acito and directed by James Vásquez. Performances begin at Diversionary Theatre (4545 Park Blvd San Diego, CA 92116) on January 31.

Following a successful tryout production in Los Angeles, Hershey Felder's AN AMERICAN STORY for ACTOR AND ORCHESTRA, which tells the story of Abraham Lincoln's last day, will have its world premiere at San Diego's beautiful Birch North Park Theatre beginning tonight, January 4, 2013. For this new production, Felder will create the role of Dr. Charles Augustus Leale, the 23-year-old unknown Union Army medic who was the first individual to reach the presidential box at Ford's Theatre on the night President Lincoln was shot. Mrs. Lincoln then put Dr. Leale in charge to see the President through his last hours. Check out the first photo we have below!

NYC writer/performer and "recovering mathematician" Gioia De Cari offers a woman's perspective on this question, as she shares her experiences in higher mathematics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the autobiographical solo show, TRUTH VALUES: One Girl's Romp Through M.I.T.'S Male Math Maze, directed by Miriam Eusebio. The show runs January 9-12 at the Lyceum Theatre.
Cygnet Theatre to Kick Off Season 11 with Stephen Sondheim's COMPANY, 7/5-8/18

Cygnet Theatre announced today that it will kick off its 2013-14 Season with Stephen Sondheim's Tony Award-winning musical COMPANY. Cygnet has had a successful history of staging Sondheim musicals including critically-acclaimed runs of Sweeney Todd and A Little Night Music. They will be staging the thought-provoking Assassins in March as part of the current 10th Anniversary Season. The full line up for Season 11 will be announced at a later date.

Starring Tony Award winner Robert Sean Leonard (The Invention of Love, Born Yesterday) as Professor Henry Higgins and Charlotte Parry (The Importance of Being Earnest, The Real Thing) as Eliza Doolittle, the production coincides with the 100th anniversary of Pygmalion's 1913 premiere in Vienna, Austria. Directed by Nicholas Martin (Butley, Present Laughter), Pygmalion will run on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center, Jan. 12 - Feb. 17, 2013. New Village Arts and Playwrights Project are teaming to produce PLAYWRIGHTS VILLAGE, new play development by emerging, San Diego County playwrights. The process, the fourth cycle of the collaboration between these two organizations, combines Playwrights Project's PLAY BY PLAY program and New Village Arts' NEW PLAY FESTIVAL. It's a three step development process designed to help the playwright develop his/her play with the focus centered on supporting the writer as s/he rewrites and develops the chosen play.

Cygnet Theatre and Mingei International Museum will join forces in 2013 to celebrate the work of two African-American artists. Mingei will present 'Bill Traylor: Drawings from the Collections of the High Museum of Art and the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts' from February 9 - May 12, 2013, and Cygnet will premiere August Wilson's Gem of the Ocean from January 24 - February 24, 2013. The partnership between both organizations is designed to build audiences for these two important shows during Black History Month.

La Jolla Playhouse announces two additional productions for its 2013/2014 season. Playhouse Artistic Director Christopher Ashley (Glengarry Glen Ross, Memphis) will direct His Girl Friday, John Guare's (Six Degrees of Separation, The House of Blue Leaves) acclaimed adaptation of the Ben Hecht and Charles MacArthur play The Front Page and the Howard Hawks film His Girl Friday, with screenplay by Charles Lederer, produced by Columbia Pictures. The production will kick off the season in June/July in the Mandell Weiss Theatre.

Circle Circle dot dot kicks off their official SECOND SEASON with, 'Street. Art. Prophets.' a collection of 5 short plays about artists who take to the streets to get their art seen. It was a full house on Opening Night and members of the community, family, & friends came out to show their support. Audiences enjoyed watching 5 WORLD PREMIERE plays and took to the 'Tag Wall' display in the lobby to voice their love of the show. Check out photos from the wall and the show below!

Cygnet Theatre will continue its 10th Anniversary Season by presenting the San Diego Premiere of August Wilson'sGem of the Ocean. The first play, chronologically, in Wilson's epic Century Cycle, Gem of the Ocean is set to perform January 24ththrough February 24th, 2013, at Cygnet's Old Town Theatre. Press Opening is scheduled for February 2nd, 2013.
