MATILDA THE MUSICAL to Make its Premiere in San Jose!

TIME Magazine's #1 Show of the Year, MATILDA THE MUSICAL, is coming to San Jose as part of Broadway San Jose's 2016-17 season. Produced by the Royal Shakespeare Company and the Dodgers, the first national tour of MATILDA THE MUSICAL will be coming to The Center for the Performing Arts (255 S. Almaden, San Jose) March 7-12, 2017.

Luther Burbank Center for the Arts (The Center) and the Santa Rosa Symphony present a special musical event as a part of the2016-2017 Symphony Pops Series on Sunday, February 19 at 3 p.m. featuring cabaret star Ann Hampton Callaway singing hits from the Great American Songbook. Callaway joins the Santa Rosa Symphony for a celebration of 20th Century American music. From a command performance at the White House, to the Great White Way of Broadway, she has captivated audiences everywhere. The Tony-nominated star of the Broadway hit Swing! sings the timeless classics of George Gershwin, Jerome Kern, Stephen Sondheim, Cole Porter and many more from the Great American Songbook. The Santa Rosa Symphony will be under the direction of acclaimed Principal Pops Conductor Michael Berkowitz.
Colleen Kollar Smith Named as Managing Director of Moonlight Stage Productions

Vista native Colleen Kollar Smith, who received her earliest theatre experience and training on the stage of the Moonlight Amphitheatre, has been named as Managing Director of the City of Vista's Moonlight Stage Productions effective February 8, 2017. Kollar Smith will oversee Moonlight's business and administrative functions and work in concert with Producing Artistic Director Steven Glaudini to shape the vision and future of the company and its seasons. Kollar Smith replaces longtime Managing Director Daniel Kays, who in November accepted a position in Northern California.

Write Out Loud - an organization founded in 2007 with a commitment to inspire, challenge and entertain by reading short stories aloud for a live audience  - announces the 2017 POETRY OUT LOUD Regional Finals. The National Poetry Foundation, with funding from the National Endowment for the Arts and managed in California by the California Arts Council presents POETRY OUT LOUD, a national poetry recitation competition for high school students. San Diego Regional Finals take place on Tuesday, February 7th at 6:30 pm at the San Diego Central Library, Joan ? Irwin Jacobs Common in the Neil Morgan Auditorium. It is free and open to the public.

Wareham is thrilled to announce a very special bonus event just in time for Valentines Day, Wendie Malick ("Hot in Cleveland," "Just Shoot Me") and Dan Lauria ("The Wonder Years." "Pitch") starring in LOVE LETTERS by A.R. Gurney.  "I have been wanting to bring Dan and Wendie to our stage ever since I started working here and now we have them together in the perfect show!" says Wareham.  LOVE LETTERS will perform for four performances only, Thursday, February 2 through Sunday, February 5, 2017 at the Laguna Playhouse, 606 Laguna Canyon Road in Laguna Beach.

San Diego Repertory Theatre (San Diego REP) announced today that its box office records, previously set by another of Hershey Felder's works, 'The Pianist of Willesden Lane,' have been broken. The world premiere play with music, 'Our Great Tchaikovsky,' surpassed the record set in 2014 by Felder's adaptation of Mona Golabek's novel - with the current production breaking the record even before entering performances. The production has become the highest grossing show in San Diego REP history.

Each program explores specific themes by weaving a variety of stories, poems and music together into a literary tapestry.
