Pioneer Productions is thrilled to announce encore performances of their production of Heidi Schreck's "What the Constitution Means to Me.” Following a sold-out run of the show in downtown Morristown earlier this year, the original cast and production team have partnered with Chatham Borough to present an encore weekend in July 2026. Performances will take place on July 11 at 8:00 PM and July 12 at 4:00 PM at the Stanely Center, located at 94 Fairmount Ave, Chatham, NJ 07928. Details and ticket information can be found at https://www.pioneerproductionscompany.org/seasontickets/Constitution
Fifteen-year-oldHeidi earned her college tuition by winning Constitutional debate competitions across the United States. In this hilarious, hopeful, and achingly human play, she resurrects her teenage self to trace the profound relationship between four generations of women and the founding document that shaped their lives.
“We’re proud to partner with Pioneer Productions to bring What the Constitution Means to Me to Chatham Borough as part of our ongoing semiquincentennial celebration. This powerful and thought-provoking production encourages meaningful conversations about democracy, civic engagement, and the enduring impact of the Constitution on everyday lives. It reflects our commitment to offering cultural experiences that both inspire and connect our community during this historic milestone," says Leslie Williams, Director of Community Services.
What the Constitution Means to Me won the Obie Award for Best New American Play and the New York Drama Critics’ Circle Award for Best American Play. The play was also nominated for the Tony Award for Best Play and was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
Pioneer Productions, Artistic Director, Dan Vissers, directs Schreck’s boundary-breaking play which features veteran Pioneer actor Miriam Salerno as Heidi. Pioneer’s January production was called a “tour de force” by MorristownGreen.com, with Salerno giving the “performance of her life.” The cast also includes Ben Weisman as the Legionnaire and Ashlee Vissers as the Debater.
