War of the Worlds: The Panic Broadcast at Clemans Theater for the Arts at the Allen A.M.E.

Adapted by Joe Landry from the H.G. Wells novel, this play recreates the infamous 1938 radio broadcast originally directed by Orson Welles, performed in true old-time radio style. Four actors take on 75 roles while creating sound effects live before the audience, with additional pre-recorded voices from local talent. The cast includes Liz Mattera, Ken Hornbeck, Andrew Betz, and Matt Mancuso as Orson Welles. On Oct. 30, the anniversary of the original broadcast, East Lynne will host a Martian CONtest costume event with prizes and light refreshments.
