The Curious Savage Opens at Gallery Theater
The Curious Savage opens at Gallery Theater of McMinnville, Oregon on Friday, July 18 2025. The opening night performance will be followed by a reception for patrons, cast, and the production team.
Mrs. Savage has been left ten million dollars by her husband and wants to make the best use of it. Knowing that the widow's wealth is now in negotiable securities, and seeing they cannot get hold of it, her grown-up stepchildren commit her to a "sanatorium," hoping to "bring her to her senses."
But Mrs. Savage is determined to establish a fund to help others realize their hopes and dreams. In the sanatorium she meets various men and women who just cannot adjust themselves to life, people who need the help Mrs. Savage can provide.
The self-seeking stepchildren are driven to distraction by their vain efforts to browbeat Mrs. Savage, but she preserves in her equanimity and leads them on a merry chase. Through their simple belief in the justice of her cause, her friends enable Mrs. Savage to carry out her plans.
Written by John Patrick and directed by Tonya Nichols, The Curious Savage will be performed in Gallery Theater’s smaller “black box-style” theater and feature Dave Ferry, Kevin Folgate, Bec Hasel, Sasha Horning, Lisa Lindman, Beth Moore, Sarah Munk, John Olson, Stan Smith, Soren Smithrud, Obie Williams and Cathy Willoughby.
