Bernard "Pretty" Purdie & Friends Celebrate Our America 250 at August Wilson African American Cultural Center

The Pittsburgh International Jazz Festival honors legendary drummer Bernard "Pretty" Purdie, the most recorded drummer in history, who will receive the PIJF Luminary Award for his lifetime contributions to music. Purdie will be backed by a locally assembled ensemble led by bassist Dwayne Dolphin with pianist Max Leake, guitarist John Shannon, vocalist T. Marie, The Steel City Horns and other special guests. Additional performers paying tribute include Terri Lyne Carrington, Nate Smith, and Jae Sinnett with his Blur the Lines Project featuring music by Jimi Hendrix, Rush, Led Zeppelin and Buddy Miles.
