The 16th Annual Pittsburgh International Jazz Festival, co-presented by Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, features legendary and contemporary jazz, soul, blues and more across free outdoor stages on Liberty Avenue and ticketed concerts at the August Wilson African American Cultural Center. Performers include Lalah Hathaway, Terri Lyne Carrington, Bernard 'Pretty' Purdie & Friends, Eric Roberson, Nate Smith, Sean Jones, Lady Blackbird, Annie & The Caldwells, The Rakiem Walker Project, and Jae Sinnett Blur The Lines Project, among others. The festival honors the theme Our America250, celebrating how jazz, soul, blues, gospel and R&B have shaped American and global culture. A Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to Bernard 'Pretty' Purdie, and Pittsburgh-based drummer Dennis Garner leads a tribute to D'Angelo with special guest vocalist Cam Chambers.
