Ntozake Shange’s groundbreaking, Tony award-winning choreopoem "FOR COLORED GIRLS..." celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, and RiverStage is thrilled to be bringing it to Lewisburg just for you! Filled with passion, humor, and raw honesty, this fusion of poetry, song and movement tells the stories of seven Black women. Join their circle as these seven women share their stories of what it takes to grow up as a Black woman in contemporary America, and you’ll find strength in their struggles and resilience as their brilliant poetry and music explode off the stage and resonate with all. As the Broadway tagline says, “It’s time for joy. It’s time for sisterhood. It’s time for colored girls.”
This production features a strong cast of local performers from across the Susquehanna Valley, including the director, Monica Prince, as well as Bernadette “Birdie” Harris, Tiana Rawls-White, Clarissa A. Murray, Jessica Nirvana, Monique Alexander, and Amy Davis. The show’s costumes are designed by Kyle Ard, with lighting design by Caroline Scheckter, artwork by Jess Ram, and stage management by Emily Rautzahn.
Directed by Monica Prince (director of RiverStage's 2024 production of "August Wilson’s Fences"), this is an extremely rare opportunity to see this show LIVE in central PA! Don’t miss it —get your tickets today at www.riverstagetheatre.org!
