BWW Review: THE COLOR PURPLE at City Springs At Byers Theater

City Springs Theatre Company presents THE COLOR PURPLE Directed by Kamilah Long is based on Alice Walker's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel and the Warner Bros./Amblin Entertainment motion picture. This musical about love plays May 6 - 22, 2022 in the Byers Theatre at the Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center. THE COLOR PURPLE was adapted for the stage by Pulitzer Prize and Tony® Award winner Marsha Norman, with music and lyrics by Grammy® Award winners Brenda Russell, Allee Willis, and Stephen Bray.

THE SKIN OF OUR TEETH Cancels Matinee Performance for Today, Saturday, May 14th

In a statement released by the official show, Broadway's The Skin Of Our Teeth has cancelled its matinee performance for today, May 14th at 2pm. It reads, 'Due to illness, the following performance of The Skin of Our Teeth has been CANCELLED: Saturday, May 14 at 2pm. The next scheduled performance is tonight, Saturday, May 14 at 8pm. All tickets will be fully refunded at the point of purchase.' 

VIDEO: 'ER' Star Anthony Edwards Makes Broadway Musical Debut as Dr. Walker in GIRL FROM THE NORTH COUNTRY

“ER” star Anthony Edwards took to the stage on Friday evening in his Broadway musical debut as “Dr. Walker” in the recently Tony Nominated musical Girl From The North Country. With several members of the company out of the show due to COVID, Edwards stepped in at the last moment, and after only an hour of rehearsal time, to ensure that the show would go on. He starred opposite his wife, Mare Winningham, who was recently nominated for a Tony Award for her role.

Rover Dramawerks Presents ARTIFICE

Rover Dramawerks continues their 22nd Season with the comedy Artifice by Anne Flanagan. Performances will be at the Cox Playhouse, 1517 H Avenue in Plano, running June 9-25 on Thursdays and Fridays at 8:00 p.m. and on Saturdays at 3:00 and 8:00 p.m.

Dance/NYC Announces All-Digital Symposium: Three Days Of Content, 500+ Attendees, And Featured Speakers

The service organization Dance/NYC has announced that videos from its fully digital 2022 Symposium are now available for public dissemination. This year's event, which occurred on Thursday March 17-Saturday March 19, 2022, marked Dance/NYC's second successful all-digital Symposium. Over three days, 500+ people attended the event built around the theme Life Cycles. Livelihoods. Legacies., including dance artists, choreographers, artistic directors, administrators, funders, educators, policymakers, dance writers, scholars, and students.

BWW Review: AFTERWORDS at The 5th Avenue Theatre

Dear Readers, by now you know that one of my major pet peeves for any show is what I call “someone else’s therapy on stage”. Other people’s problems just aren’t interesting, and I don’t need to see you work through them. Such is the first issue of many I have with the new musical “Afterwords”, currently playing at the 5th Avenue Theatre. The second main issue being that the show appears to have been written with a cliché search engine.

Coppell Arts Center Adds Four Shows To Summer Line-up 

Temperatures are heating up, and so is the summer programming at Coppell Arts Center! Four events have been scheduled for the summer season, including live music, family entertainment, and more. Blues Brothers tribute group Briefcase Blues will kick things off in June with a high-energy performance on Saturday, June 11 at 7:30 PM, followed by a performance from The Four C Notes, who will recreate the iconic sounds of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons on Saturday, July 16 at 7 PM.
