Mark Kilmurry, Artistic Director, Ensemble Theatre is thrilled to announce the 2022 Season which, says Kilmurry, will be a season of 10 exceptional shows by the best Australian and international playwrights including 2 special events with theatre legends.

The cast has been announced for the European premiere and the UK debut of multi-award-winning Australian playwright Alana Valentine's, The Sugar House which opens at the Finborough Theatre for a four week limited season on Wednesday, 27 October 2021 (Press Nights: Thursday, 4 November 2021 and Friday, 5 November 2021 at 7.30pm).

Joining Catherine on Friday, July 30 is singer/actor Ursula Yovich, writer/actor/composer/pianist Phil Scott and comedy legend Jean Kittson. Also making her virtual return to Catherine & Friends is pivoter of the year Verushka Darling who will be standing by to take your texts as she sashays from 'hotspot' to 'hotline'.

At a time when women’s voices are still struggling to be heard, New York based Australian composer and lyricist Carmel Dean’s WELL-BEHAVED WOMEN is a wonderful battle cry of ballads about famous females from history to inspire modern generations to continue to break down the barriers. 

The cast of Well-Behaved Women at the Hayes Theatre has been announced. The cast includes Ursula Yovich, Elenoa Rokobaro, Zahra Newman, and Stefanie Caccamo.

Sydney arts lovers are in for a treat on Tuesday, February 2, when the weekly Arts Tuesday show returns to Eastside 89.7FM between 10.30 and 12 noon.

Mark Kilmurry, Artistic Director, Ensemble Theatre today announced that the 2021 Ensemble Theatre Sandra Bates Director's Award (SBDA) has been awarded to Ursula Yovich.  Ursula will work on two plays throughout next year and will receive $8,000.

Originally live streamed as 'Friday Night Live!' during the great lockdown of 2020, 'FNL ... Alive and Unlocked!' will be unleashed in the Sydney Festival from Tuesday 5 – Saturday 9 January 2021.  The season will be live on stage and live streamed to the universe across selected performances. 

A $25,000 paid residency, the Balnaves Foundation Fellowship gives the Fellow the opportunity to work at Belvoir as a resident artist to create a work for the stage. It seeks to be deeply collaborative, offering an invitation to have a voice in Belvoir's artistic decision-making processes and the opportunity to support other Indigenous artists through Belvoir's creative development and programming.

Belvoir has announced Nathan Maynard as the 2019 Balnaves Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Fellow. The Fellowship is an evolution of the Balnaves Foundation Indigenous Playwright Award, which has long been recognised as one of the most prestigious playwriting awards in Australia.

The 2019 Helpmann Awards Act II tonight was a star studded black-tie gala event hosted by the fabulous dynamic duo of comedian, writer and actor, Susie Youssef, and Artistic Director of State Theatre SA, Mitchell Butel.
