The Academy of American Poets is pleased to announce the winners of the 2019 American Poets Prizes, which are among the most valuable and venerable poetry prizes in the United States. The Town and the City Festival has just added a handful of new acts to its extensive lineup for the two-day music and arts festival in Lowell, Massachusetts on Friday, October 18th and Saturday, October 19th, 2019. The Oxford Film Festival and Oxford Community Market have teamed up for a special one night Food Film Festival on Tuesday, September 17 about 7 pm. The event is free but donations to both non-profits are encouraged. The regular farmer's market will be held at the Old Armory Pavilion from 3-6:30 pm and the party will continue at 7 p.m. with free hot dogs, popcorn and other treats for the movies. Eleven world premiere plays and musicals seen first by Chicago audiences were among those receiving nominations by the Jeff Awards, announced today. A total of 192 nominations were made in 34 categories that honor Chicago Equity theatrical productions that opened between August 1, 2018 and July 31, 2019. During the 2018-19 season, Jeff Awards judges attended opening nights of 132 Equity productions offered by 43 producing organizations and from these openings, 112 productions were a?oeJeff Recommendeda?? and eligible for award nominations.
Wit, by Margaret Edson, presented by actor Pamela Vogel, opens for eight performances in a limited run. It is one production in the inaugural year of the Houston Equity Festival, a collection of local professional actors, all members of the union Actors' Equity Association, each of whom is mounting her/his own show during the summer and fall of 2019.
