Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS Gives $100,000 In Emergency Grants To Support Australia Wildfire Relief Efforts

Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, on behalf of all of Broadway, Off-Broadway and the national tours involved in the organization's recent fall fundraising campaign, is awarding $100,000 in emergency grants to support Australia wildfire relief efforts. The grants will help provide immediate assistance to organizations doing vital, lifesaving, on-the-ground work in the region.

Gingold Theatrical Group just celebrated Opening Night for this rare revival of Shaw's beloved almost historical comedy Caesar & Cleopatra last night, September 24th at Theatre Row (410 West 42nd Street, between 9th and 10th Avenues). Last night Broadway stars and student Thespians shared the stage at Edison Ballroom for the 5th Broadway Back to School Gala supporting the Educational Theatre Foundation.  The event honoring Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman's dedication to educational theatre featured some of the biggest names in Broadway, including legends Chita Rivera and Patti LuPone, host Laura Benanti, John Cariani, Gavin Creel, Evan Ruggiero, Carla Stickler, Alex Stone, and J. Harrison Ghee who appeared as Crystal Demure.

Held at the historic Metropolitan Club (One East 60th Street), the event raised nearly $400,000 and brought together awards, live entertainment, silent and live auctions, dinner, and cocktails in celebration of theater and its contribution to American society. Tony Award-winner and The Acting Company alumna Harriet Harris hosted, with performances by Joanna A. Jones (Hamilton) and Tatiana Wechsler, featuring Russ Kaplan's Broadway Jazz.
