The North Country Center for Arts at Jean's Playhouse is excited to present their 2019 Summer Season, which runs from June 20 through September 15, 2019, and includes three stunning musicals, and 2 hilarious plays. Performances run Wednesday afternoons at 2:00 PM and Thursday through Saturday evenings at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $32 for Adults, $27 for Seniors, and $20 for Children 16 and under. Palm Canyon Theatre is taking an exuberant romp on the Mississippi in their current musical, Big River. The 1985 Broadway hit, with songs by Roger ("King of the Road") Miller, is a stage adaptation of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Creating a kids' musical based on a tale of the death of a little girl in appalling circumstances is making a risky bet, but in the case of The LittleMatch Girl at the Theatre de la Renaissance in Paris, a successful one. The book, by Anthony Michineau, is a small masterpiece of poetry and imagination. Without betraying Hans Christian Andersen's original tale, Michineau has transformed the story into a fantasy fable, where thelittle match girl, Emma, goes on a quest to save an imaginary kingdom.
