The University of Washington's Meany Center for the Performing Arts, under the leadership of Executive and Artistic Director Michelle Witt, announces its 2019/20 Season with a lineup of 23 adventurous and visionary artists from around the globe. One of the nation's leading university presenters, Meany Center brings artists of exceptional artistry and diverse perspectives to Seattle, providing extraordinary performances and unique learning experiences to both community and campus. The 2019/20 Season explores the theme of empathy in the arts and celebrates the 250th anniversary of the birth of Ludwig van Beethoven, an artist whose life and work resonates with the season's theme. The new season will also feature work by two Creative Research Fellows participating in the UW's Creative Fellowships Initiative, choreographer Brian Brooks and performance artist Daniel Alexander Jones.

Beehive is a tribute to the women of 1960's rock, pop and soul music.

Today BET Networks announced second season pick-ups for both its half-hour subversive, smart, serialized comedy series 'BOOMERANG,' and the critically-acclaimed period drama based on the untold rise of the iconic music and dance program 'Soul Train,' 'AMERICAN SOUL.' BET is investing in partnerships with leading Black content creators with unique creative voices to bring viewers elevated storytelling and premium programming.

TINA - THE Tina TURNER MUSICAL (Original London Cast Recording) will be released by Ghostlight Records for digital download and streaming tomorrow, March 29. The show is currently a hit at the Aldwych Theatre in London's West End and will open on Broadway in the fall of 2019. The Kennedy Center announces the June calendar of events for Millennium Stage, its free daily performance series featuring art and artists representing countless artistic styles. Highlights of the June calendar include many performances dedicated to the United States's original art form-jazz. Participants of the Betty Carter's Jazz Ahead program-the international jazz residency, performance, and composition project that discovers and presents the next generation of jazz greats on  Millennium Stage (June 6-8). Additionally, the Kennedy Center will host eight performances in collaboration with the DC Jazz Festival (June 9-16). Since 2004, the DC Jazz Festival (DCJF) organization has provided enriching and entertaining jazz performances and programs that introduce students and adults from all walks of life to jazz.
