Boston Symphony Orchestra Announces Tanglewood 2020 Seasons

The 2020 Tanglewood season, June 19 through August 30, will present major musical events, including an Andris Nelsons-led Act III of Tannhäuser, Paul Lewis performing all five Beethoven piano concertos, a weekend-long celebration of Isaac Stern on the 100th anniversary of his birth, a Boston Pops presentation of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back under the direction of Keith Lockhart, Film Night hosted by John Williams, Thomas Adès directing the 2020 Festival of Contemporary Music, and a Popular Artist series with Ringo Starr, Trey Anastasio, and Judy Collins and Arlo Guthrie. Alongside these programs taking place in the Koussevitzky Music Shed will be intimate chamber music and recital concerts in Ozawa Hall and engaging and thought-provoking activities in the Linde Center, which opened to great popular and critical acclaim in 2019 (see separate press release for 2020 Tanglewood Learning Institute programs here).

The Shed Will Present New Exhibition 'Manual Override'

The Shed explores the impact of technology on our lives in Manual Override, a group exhibition that will include six works, four of which are newly commissioned. On view in The Shed's Griffin Theater from November 13, 2019 through January 12, 2020, the exhibition features work by Morehshin Allahyari, Simon Fujiwara, Lynn Hershman Leeson, Sondra Perry, and Martine Syms. Manual Override is organized by critic Nora N. Khan, The Shed's first guest curator, with Alessandra Gomez, curatorial assistant.

De Blasio Administration Announces New IDNYC Program Benefits Ahead Of Five Year Anniversary

The de Blasio Administration today announced the launch of the IDNYC renewal campaign, new and returning benefit partners, and the IDNYC Middle School Card. With the fifth anniversary of the IDNYC program approaching and the first set of cards set to expire beginning in January 2020, the program has also introduced a new card design and a comprehensive, citywide advertising and targeted outreach campaign to promote renewals. IDNYC is the largest and most successful municipal ID program in the country with over 1.3 million cardholders.

California based singer-songwriter, Ismay, is back with a brand new single and video titled 'When I Was Younger, I Cried.' This is the first single from her upcoming debut record, Songs of Sonoma, set to release early next year.

William Forsythe Brings A QUIET EVENING OF DANCE to The Shed

Renowned choreographer William Forsythe brings a new kind of dance work to The Shed, October 11 a?" 25, 2019, that, like an evening of chamber music, is designed to be listened to. Staged in the 500-seat Griffin Theater, A Quiet Evening of Dance is an intimate experience for audiences in which choreography is stripped down to its essence, with works ranging from sparse analytic distillation to baroque-inspired counterpoint.

National Sawdust Announces 3rd Annual Summer Labs

Disability Arts Ensemble Kinetic Light Announces Fall 2019 Tour

The renowned disability arts ensemble Kinetic Light announces its Fall 2019 tour, including the evening-length work DESCENT at the Flynn Center in Burlington, VT, Wilson Center in Wilmington, NC, and Ferst Center for the Arts in Atlanta, GA, and the duet Under Momentum at the Forward Motion Festival in Miami, FL. Working in the disciplines of art, design, architecture, and social justice, Kinetic Light creates, performs, and teaches at the intersections of disability, dance, and race. Members include founder/choreographer Alice Sheppard, dancer, technology lead, and choreographic collaborator Laurel Lawson, and lighting, video, and projection designer Michael Maag. 

Colt Ford Releases SLOW RIDE As Latest Single and Lyric Video

Country rap pioneer and million-selling artist COLT FORD tomorrow (August 9) releases 'Slow Ride' as the latest single from his seventh album WE THE PEOPLE VOLUME 1 (Average Joes Entertainment) due out this fall. The song's lyric video, featuring footage of FORD on tour, premiered today at Billboard. 

ANNIE GET YOUR GUN Extends at Bay Street Theater

Bay Street Theater has announced that Irving Berlin's ANNIE GET YOUR GUN opened to an enthusiastic audience on August 3. Due to popular demand, the show will be extended and will now run through September 1. The show is one of the most beloved musicals of Broadway's Golden Age with music and lyrics by Irving Berlin, book by Dorothy and Herbert Fields and directed by Sarna Lapine (Sunday in the Park with George, Bay Street Theater's Frost/Nixon).
