The Huntington announces the cast and creative team of its first production of its 40th anniversary season, Hurricane Diane by Pulitzer Prize finalist Madeleine George and directed by Jenny Koons, running from August 27 to September 26, 2021 at The Huntington's Calderwood Pavilion at the BCA.

 The Old Globe continues its outdoor summer offerings as Erna Finci Viterbi Artistic Director Barry Edelstein directs and hosts Thinking Shakespeare LOVE!, a celebration of love in the plays, poems, and songs of Shakespeare.

The 2017 production at the Globe was the most successful in the theatre’s history, and all of the principal cast members return to voice their roles in one of the greatest plays ever written. Many of the ensemble also return, along with two new cast members, to round out the company.

Pulitzer winners Paula Vogel, Katori Hall, Annie Baker & Sam Shepard are just 4 of the many celebrated playwrights whose work was developed in the Bay Area Playwrights Festival (BAPF). Established in 1976 and currently led by Playwrights Foundation’s Executive Artistic Director Jessica Bird Beza, this year’s BAPF runs July 16-25, featuring 5 very different new works. Casts include acclaimed actors such as Emily Kuroda. BroadwayWorld recently caught up with Beza to talk about the festival.

In the true spirit of “The show must go on”, when the pandemic shut down theatre and in-person gatherings, the students of The Old Globe and University of San Diego Shiley Graduate Theatre program continued to do the work.  That work has paid off for the graduating class of 2021 and is being celebrated in their live performance of THINKING SHAKESPEARE LOVE! These seven talented, hardworking, and resilient graduates have attended online classes for 15 months of a two-year graduate program. Rehearsals begin today in person with Edelstein and will culminate with an onstage performance of Thinking Shakespeare LOVE! in front of a live audience.

Larsen and Maxwell are Distinguished Artists in Residence at The Studios, one of the premiere multidisciplinary arts & culture organizations in South Florida and the Florida Keys.
