A.C.T. Celebrates 25th Anniversary of WORDS ON PLAYS

American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) announced today that Words on Plays-the institution's in-depth performance guide series-is celebrating its 25th anniversary. Created in 1994 in response to audience members requesting the program before seeing the show, this entertaining and informative publication offers revealing artist interviews, original articles, and additional background information about the historical and cultural context of the plays included in A.C.T.'s subscription season.

NAMT Awards $65,000 In Grants For New Musical Development & Organizational Innovation

The National Alliance for Musical Theatre (NAMT) announces 18 awards granted from their National Fund for New Musicals, and five awards granted from their Innovation & Exploration Grant program. The National Fund for New Musicals (NFNM) is a major funding program to support NAMT member not-for-profit theatres in their collaborations with writers to create, develop and produce new musicals. Now in its tenth year, this year the Fund is providing grants totaling $58,000 to organizations across the country.

LAByrinth Theater Company Presents World Premiere Of DEVIL OF CHOICE

LAByrinth Theater Company (Artistic Director John Ortiz) recently announced that they will present the World Premiere of Devil of Choice by LAB Member Maggie Bofill (Winners, Drawn and Quartered). They are thrilled for performances to begin Wednesday, May 23, and will run through Saturday, June 9, 2018, at The Cherry Lane Theatre (38 Commerce Street, New York, NY 10014). Working Theater To Host Community Dialogue Events As Part Of World Premiere Of Adam Kraar's Alternating Currents

In honor of their upcoming touring production of Adam Kraar's Alternating Currents, Working Theater (Mark Plesent, Producing Artistic Director) will host community engagement events in each of the five boroughs. Community Dialogue events will focus on the dominant theme of the play; how communities deal with increasing diversity. Each event will center around a shared meal and conversation guided by Working Theater's Community Engagement Coordinator, Tricia Patrick.

The 2018-19 season includes Lynn Nottage's 2017 Pulitzer Prize-winning drama, SWEAT; Jaclyn Backhaus's ingenious and provocative telling of 19th-century American explorers, MEN ON BOATS; Edward Albee's wildly imaginative and satirical Pulitzer Prize-winning comedy, SEASCAPE; Mfoniso Udofia's achingly poignant drama, HER PORTMANTEAU; Lauren Yee's exploration of cultural identity, global politics, and basketball, THE GREAT LEAP; and Kate Hamill's rollicking new stage adaptation of William Thackeray's classic novel, VANITY FAIR.

Casting Announced for Adam Kraar's Five Borough World Premiere of ALTERNATING CURRENTS

Working Theater (Mark Plesent, Producing Artistic Director) will present the World Premiere of Adam Kraar's Alternating Currents, directed by Kareem Fahmy (James Scruggs's 3/Fifths at 3LD) as part of their Five Boroughs/One City Initiative with performances in Queens, Manhattan, The Bronx, Staten Island, and Brooklyn, April 26-May 26.
