The Crossing Releases CARTHAGE, Featuring Six Works By James Primosch, On Navona Records

On Friday, May 22, 2020, GRAMMY-winning choir The Crossing, led by Donald Nally, releases CARTHAGE, an album featuring six striking pieces by composer James Primosch, on Navona Records. Internationally recognized and prolific, Primosch is the 2020 winner of The Virgil Thomson Award for Vocal Music from The American Academy of Arts and Letters.

Burning Coal Theatre Company Will Present the 19TH AMENDMENT PROJECT

Burning Coal Theatre Company has announced that it will present The 19th Amendment Project, a collection of short plays written by some of the most accomplished women and/or non-binary playwrights working today. Performance dates are August 20, 21, 22, 27, 28 & 29 at 7:30 pm.

Kozlova International Ballet Competition Cancelled

Symphony Space decided to close until April 1st, which causes the cancellation of the 2020 Kozlova International Ballet Competition. The theater is already booked for March 15-19, 2021, and the celebrations will take place then - bigger and better! - just one year later.

Theodore S. Chapin Will Be Honored With the Floria V. Lasky Award

The directors of The Jerome Robbins Foundation today announced that Theodore S. Chapin, President and Chief Creative Officer of The Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization: A Concord Company, will be honored with the Floria V. Lasky Award in recognition of his invaluable contributions to the cultural landscape of New York City.

Alan Onickel to Make Debut at The Green Room 42 with THAT INSTANT

Performer, teacher, and choreographer Alan Onickel will be making his Green Room 42 debut in That Instant. Beginning in South Africa with a life-altering near-fatal car crash, this autobiographical show follows Alan from his visit to 'Coma Land' through multiple surgeries, therapies, doctors, pharmaceuticals, recuperation and finally his return to New York City. Music composed by the incomparable Drama Desk and Helen Hayes award winner Ed Dixon and played by gifted Musical Director Chip Prince. Everyone deals with obstacles in life. That Instant tells of Alan Onickel's unpredictable journey surviving those hurdles.

Two acclaimed companies will present family-friendly puppetry shows with music in March: The last month of the 2019-20 Just Kidding family performing arts season presents a lively and exciting roster of kid-centric shows every Saturday. Two dozen multi-talented award-winning artists from the Indie Collaborative will be coming together to celebrate Earth Day in song.

Perspectives Ensemble to Present DARK EYES/NEW EYES: A CELEBRATION OF ARMENIAN MUSIC

Perspectives Ensemble, in cooperation with the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, presents Dark Eyes/New Eyes: A Celebration of Armenian Music on Sunday, March 22, 2020 at 7pm at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, Chapel of St. James, 1047 Amsterdam Avenue at 112th Street. The performance will feature Zulal, a vocal trio composed of Teni Apelian, Anaïs Alexandra Tekerian, and Yeraz Markarian, and Perspectives Ensemble members, including flutist and Artistic Director Sato Moughalian, harpist Stacey Shames, and percussionist John Hadfield. Admission is free and running time is 70 minutes, no intermission.

The Greenwich Village Orchestra Will Present its Season Finale STEALING FIRE

The Greenwich Village Orchestra (GVO) will present its season finale, Stealing Fire, led by Music Director Barbara Yahr and Associate Conductor Eric Mahl, on Sunday, May 3, 2020 at 4:00pm at Peter Norton Symphony Space. The program includes the NY premiere of Jonathan Leshnoff's Concerto for Clarinet and Bassoon, co-commissioned by the GVO, and the US premiere of Brazilian-American composer Clarice Assad's Saravá. Also on the program are Beethoven's Overture to 'Creatures of Prometheus,' and Respighi's Pines of Rome.

Patrick Wilson Will Join the Cast of THE COURTROOM For Next Performance in March

Waterwell today announced the complete cast for the next performance of The Courtroom, which is coming to Symphony Space in a special evening amplifying this intimate encounter with our nation's immigration court system. For this performance on Monday, March 9, Emmy Award®, two-time Golden Globe Award®, and two-time Tony Award® nominee Patrick Wilson will join members of the original cast.
