Playwrights Horizons has announced costume designer Nicole Wee as the new Director of Playwrights Horizons Theater School.

The Public Theater, the Barnard Center for Research on Women and the Ntozake Shange Literary Trust have announced the establishment of The Ntozake Shange Social Justice Theater Residency. This rotating two-year playwriting residency is named in honor of Public Theater artist and Barnard alumna (Class of 1970) Ntozake Shange.

Launching Griffin’s 33rd season, Marys Seacole will play October 1 – November 6, 2022 on Raven Theatre’s Schwartz Stage.

People’s Light is presenting the world premiere of Mushroom, an original play from Pulitzer Prize finalist and Mare of Easttown cast member Eisa Davis. Mushroom runs September 14 through October 16 on the Steinbright Stage.

The Road Theatre Company and Taylor Gilbert, Founder/Artistic Director together with Sam Anderson, Artistic Director, announce the first show of its 2022-2023Season, a world premiere comedy, ACCORDING TO THE CHORUS, written by Arlene Hutton (The Nibroc Trilogy) and directed by Emily Chase. It will begin previews on October 18.

Florida Studio Theatre has announced that the run of New York State of Mind – All the Hits of Billy Joel With The Uptown Boys has been extended yet again due to audience demand. Created by John De Simini and Alexander Aguilar, Broadway veterans who have worked on such shows as Miss Saigon and A Bronx Tale, this lively music revue will now play through October 16, 2022.

The 2022 season of The J's New Jewish Theatre (NJT) continues this September with the world premiere of The Bee Play, which runs September 8 - 25. This marks the first time in NJT's 24-year history that the theatre has produced a world premiere.
