Weston Theater Company takes audiences on a journey through our land and history with the toe-tapping and virtuosic WOODY SEZ: THE LIFE & MUSIC OF WOODY GUTHRIE, playing September 28 – October 23 at Walker Farm theater. 

Signature Theatre will present Quiara Alegría Hudes’ My Broken Language, the acclaimed playwright’s stage adaptation of her eponymous memoir, and her return to Signature for the second play in her Premiere Residency. My Broken Language takes place Oct 18-Nov 27, 2022 in the Pershing Square Signature Center’s Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre.

Austin Shakespeare's upcoming season brings back their most popular playwrights and a new collaboration.

The Guthrie Theater has announced the cast and creative team for Sally & Tom by Pulitzer Prize winner Suzan-Lori Parks, directed by Steve H. Broadnax III. Sally & Tom will play October 1 – November 6, 2022, on the McGuire Proscenium Stage.

Ensemble Studio Theatre has announced the directors for the 38th Marathon of One-Act Plays, which will be fully comprised of work from artists who identify as Black, Indigenous & People of Color (BIPOC).

Florida Studio Theatre has announced the appointment of Sean Daniels as Associate Director and Director of The Recovery Project. He comes to FST from Arizona Theatre Company, one of the leading professional theatres in the Southwest, where he has served as Artistic Director (CO-CEO) since 2019.

Ensemble Studio Theatre (EST) announced the directors for the 38th Marathon of One-Act Plays, which will be fully comprised of work from artists who identify as Black, Indigenous & People of Color (BIPOC). The full list of directors is Sivan Battat, Dominic Colón, nicHi Douglas, Chika Ike, Cameron Knight, Rebecca Martinez, Jonathan McCrory, Jess McLeod, Keenan Tyler Oliphant, Erin Tripp and Elizabeth Van Dyke.

The New Coordinates, formerly The New Colony, will conclude its 2022 season with the world premiere of Kristin Idaszak’s heart- wrenching cliffhanger Last Ascent, directed by Denise Yvette Serna, playing October 15 – November 20, 2022 at The Den Theatre (2B).

If you live in Stratford, Ontario, you may have heard the buzz around town about a new play at the Stratford Festival’s Studio Theatre. Written by Jani Lauzon and Kaitlyn Riordan, 1939 had its world premiere last week and audiences sprung to their feet to show just how moved they were by this beautiful, powerful, and witty piece of new work.

Greenway Arts Alliance will present WET: A DACAmented Journey written and performed by Alex Alpharaoh and directed by Daphnie Sicre. The production will kick off Greenway’s25th Anniversary Season at Greenway Court Theatre in Los Angeles. Performances begin on October 22 and run to November 13.

Playwrights Horizons will present the New York premiere of Bruce Norris’s Downstate, directed by Pam MacKinnon, October 28–December 11 (opening November 15). This provocative work surrounds a registered address in downstate Illinois, where four men convicted of sex crimes share a group home, living out their days post-incarceration.

Playwrights Horizons has announced costume designer Nicole Wee as the new Director of Playwrights Horizons Theater School. Wee, who has been a faculty member since 2019 and a member of the Faculty Leadership Committee, and has served as Interim Director since May 2022, will oversee all academic and artistic activities at the School.

The Ancram Opera House, in collaboration with Playhouse Creatures Theatre Company, presents STILL LIFE,  by internationally renowned playwright, director and producer Emily Mann, and directed by Mann's good friend and protegee, Jade King Carroll, who was recently appointed Producing Artistic Director of Chautauqua Theater Company.
