Birmingham City Council has unveiled its plans for Birmingham Festival 23 to mark the one year anniversary of the Commonwealth Games, celebrating the city's creativity, as a sign of its ongoing commitment to funding culture. 

Geraldine James makes her RSC debut to play Rosalind in director Omar Elerian’s new production of As You Like It which runs in the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, Stratford-upon-Avon between 17 June – 5 August.

Rambert has released an all new trailer for Peaky Blinders: The Redemption of Thomas Shelby, a dance theatre show written and adapted for the stage by Peaky Blinders' creator Steven Knight and choreographed and directed by Rambert's Artistic Director Benoit Swan Pouffer, inspired by the TV series produced and owned by Caryn Mandabach Productions.

Angelina Jolie will play famed opera singer Maria Callas in Pablo Larraín's new biopic. The screenplay was written by Steven Knight. Larraín most recently directed Spencer, which starred Kristen Stewart as Princess Diana. In 2016, Natalie Portman starred in his film Jackie, following the life of Jackie Kennedy Onassis.

When Steven Knight and Benoit Swan Pouffer approached me about composing music for a dance theatre show about Peaky Blinders I was curious as to why. Why me (I had no notable experience composing for dance) and why Peaky Blinders?

Rogue Heroes is an account of the Special Air Service (SAS), was formed in the darkest days of World War II. The cast includes Connor Swindells (Sex Education, Vigil), Jack O’Connell (Skins, The North Water), Alfie Allen (Jojo Rabbit, Game of Thrones)  and Sofia Boutella (Modern Love, Atomic Blonde). Nearly 200 participants in the 2022 Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony will be from inclusive dance collective Critical Mass, who have already performed in the Birmingham 2022 Festival opening event Wondrous Stories, and who opened this year’s Birmingham International  Dance Festival.

Apple TV+ has announced a straight-to-series order for the electrifying new drama series “Ferrari,” inspired by bestselling book “Ferrari Rex” by Luca Dal Monte, named as “the definitive biography” on race car driver and visionary entrepreneur Enzo Ferrari. The series was created and written by Academy Award nominee Steven Knight.

24 full-time dance students from Elmhurst Ballet School, the vocational school in association with Birmingham Royal Ballet have started rehearsals for the opening ceremony to mark the beginning of Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games on Thursday 28 July. 

Apple TV+ today unveiled a first-look at the third season of the epic, post-apocalyptic global hit series “See,” which will make its global debut in August. Starring Jason Momoa, the eight-episode third season will mark the last chapter of the series and will premiere with the first episode, followed by one new episode weekly, every Friday.
