Touring production featuring two Nova Scotians brings Tony Winning Hedwig and the Angry Inch to Halifax

In the Wings Promotions (ITW) is proud to announce the remount of their critically acclaimed production of HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH, as an official event of this year's Fierte Montreal Montreal Pride. Directed and choreographed by META winner Nadia Verrucci with Music Direction by META nominee Ian Baird, this production, back by popular demand, celebrates the 21st Anniversary of the original production of HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH and the 5th Anniversary of the Broadway production. HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH features book by John Cameron Mitchell with music and lyrics by Stephen Trask. HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH runs August 8 - 10, 2019 at Cafe Cleopatra in Montreal.

 11th Hour Theatre Company has announced an exciting 15th Anniversary season. The only company in the city dedicated to producing all musicals has created a line-up of two Next Step Concerts of rarely produced musicals and a Mainstage musical years in the making. The season kicks off with a concert version of William Finn and James Lapine's Falsettos.  Then the company starts 2020 with a bang and a concert of Benny Andersson, Bjorn Ulvaeus and Tim Rice's Chess. In the Spring, 11th Hour tackles a musical it has been hoping to produce for years: John Cameron Mitchell and Stephen Trask's sensation Hedwig and the Angry Inch. 11th Hour is also introducing a new series of Musical Theatre Salons for this upcoming season as well, which are exclusive member's only events featuring intimate conversations with some of Philadelphia's most well-known musical theatre talents. Blake Holliday's jaw-dropping performance as "international song stylist" Hedwig Schmidt is reason enough to book your tickets as soon as possible to witness the actor's transformation in a 90+ minute production of Hedwig and the Angry Inch now ensconced at Nashville's Street Theatre Company through July 6. But there's another performance which is just an impressive and just as awe-inspiring from Natalie Rankin, who transforms into Itzhak, the "husband" of Hedwig whose hangdog expression and considerable stage presence clearly rivals that of the show's eponymous star.

HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH, which makes its triumphant return to the Short North Stage's Garden Theatre (1187 N. High Street in downtown Columbus) this June, is a musical that thrives in its awkward pauses. Today Ghostlight Records releases the soundtrack to Anthem: Homunculus, created by award-winning writer/director John Cameron Mitchell (Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Shrill) and composer/writer Bryan Weller, featuring original music and lyrics by Weller & Mitchell. Anthem is an edgy anthology series produced by Topic (Missing Richard Simmons) and distributed by Luminary, that tells a unique American story through a distinct musical voice. I can remember so well senior year of college when my friend Claudio came back from a trip to New York all abuzz over little drag rock show he'd seen Off-Broadway called Hedwig and the Angry Inch. I was grilling him for details on Audra and Marin in Ragtime and whether there was anything we could steal from Sam Mendes for our off-campus production of Cabaret, but Claudio only wanted to talk about Hedwig. The clincher for me was when he mentioned the star--and author--was John Cameron Mitchell. I was obsessed with John on the original cast albums of The Secret Garden and Hello Again. 'Okay, okay,' I agreed. I would see this Hedwig when I moved to New York four months later.

Ophelia's Jump Productions (OJP) continues its successful 7th season with Samuel Beckett's masterpiece, Waiting for Godot, performed at the OJP Studio Theater, located at 2009 Porterfield Way, Suite H, in Upland, from April 24 through May 11, 2019.
