Shakespeare in the Squares has announced its inaugural winter season, presenting an all-new production of Macbeth infused with wicked music and devilishly good tunes. The tour runs from 7th to 30th November with over 20 performances in indoor venues across London.

All’s Well That Ends Wells, a production by Shakespeare in the Square and directed by Sioned Jones, is a touring version of Shakespeare’s work, being performed in gardens across the UK. The tale tells the story of Helena, a young woman living under the guardianship of the Countess of Roussillon who falls in love with her carer’s son, Bertram.

Sioned Jones directs Lucy Ireland (Viola), Carys McQueen (Olivia), Marissa Landy (Feste), Priscille Grace (Maria) Lee Drage (Antonio/Sea Captain), Richard Emerson (Malvolio/Officer) Toby Gordon (Orsino/Sir Toby Belch) and Fred Thomas (Sebastian/Sir Andrew Aguecheek).

Shakespeare’s swansong might be concerned with its own nature of grand spectacle and the limited resources available to produce it realistically, but Prospero is a sorcerer, illusion is his craft, and everything is possible in a theatre.

On the fringe there is a long tradition of 'doubling'. That is actors being cast to play more than one role in a production. Often it begins as an economic imperative; for a smaller company the budget demands it, but imaginative doubling can also add delicious, non-textual layers to a production.

Shakespeare in the Squares today announces their return to London Garden Squares this summer with Shakespeare’s The Tempest, in celebration of their fifth anniversary production. In their most ambitious season to date, with venues now reaching north to Camden Square, east to Charterhouse Square, and south to Wandsworth.

It is directed by Robert Wolstenholme, with a national press night on Friday 13th December at 7pm.
