Starlight Theatre's opening offering for the 2019 summer season 'Rock Of Ages' was the single most disagreeable theatrical experience in more than fifty years spent attending live theater.  The performance of this rude, crude tribute to 1980s rock bands was probably OK, but it was impossible to hear.  Seated directly behind us was a group of ten who competed with the performers with full voice sing-a-longs, continuous hoots-hollars, yelled commentary, hand clapping, and finger snapping.  

Diggy Simmons is on a roll. Not only did he release his first project in nearly a decade but he completed his first season as a full-time cast-member on ABC's Grownish. Broadway veteran, Susan Haefner, and featured actor in Playhouse on Park's The Scottsboro Boys, Ivory McKay, are slated to be the special guest teaching artists for the Musical Theatre Preparatory Program.

Pasadena Playhouse, the State Theater of California, is pleased to announce that casting is complete for the Los Angeles premiere of Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa's Good Boys starring Betsy Brandt (CBS' Life in Pieces, and AMC's Breaking Bad) as Elizabeth Hardy, and directed by Carolyn Cantor on the mainstage of Pasadena Playhouse. The production will play June 26 through Sunday July 21; the press opening is June 30 at 5:00pm.

Casa Mañana is thrilled to name B.J. Cleveland as the new director of theatre for youth. Cleveland will direct all Children's Theatre productions amongst other duties, including serving as teaching artist and camp director for Casa Mañana Studios, Casa Mañana's premiere theatre school.
