Pittsburgh Public Theater continues its long standing tradition of presenting intellectually stimulating theater productions with the launch of FREUD'S LAST SESSION, Mark St. Germain's acclaimed play about an imagined meeting between legendary psychoanalyst and outspoken atheist Sigmund Freud (David Wohl) and Christian writer C.S. Lewis (Jonathan Crombie).
FREUD'S LAST SESSION is set to open tonight, March 9th at 8 PM at Pittsburgh Public Theater. Under the direction of Mary B. Robinson, the Pittsburgh debut of FREUD'S LAST SESSION stars Jonathan Crombie as C. S. Lewis and David Wohl as Sigmund Freud.
Science and religion, body and soul, reality and fantasy, nothing is off limits in the award winning play, Freud's Last Session, making its West Coast premiere at Taproot Theatre this March. Air raid sirens sound overhead, C.S. Lewis is a young and rising academic star and Sigmund Freud has invited him for tea. What could possibly come next? Written by Mark St. Germain and directed by Producing Artistic Director Scott Nolte Freud's Last Session runs from March 23 through April 21, with previews on March 21 and 22 and a pay what you can performance on March 28.

A theatrical performance of the original drama SECRETS - The Untold Story of Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung, written and directed by Ken Wydro (co-writer and director of Mama, I Want to Sing: The Next Generation) will be presented in German for three performances only at the Mama Foundation for the Arts (located at 149 West 126th Street, between Lenox and Seventh Aves). Translated into German by Karin Eberhardt, SECRETS (or GEHEIMNISSE) will be performed on Friday, March 16 at 7:00 p.m., Saturday, March 17 at 7:00 p.m., and Sunday, March 18 at 4:00 p.m. There will be a Q&A discussion with the author and the cast during a wine & snacks reception after each performance. Tickets are $45 / $20 for students and actors with valid ID.

Aurora Theatre Company founding Artistic Director Barbara Oliver returns to the company for its 20th anniversary season to direct Arthur Schnitzler's (La Ronde) first theatrical work for the stage, ANATOL. This World Premiere translation, commissioned by Aurora Theatre Company, from renowned Schnitzler expert (and Berkeley resident) Margret Schaefer, features Mike Ryan (Shakespeare Santa Cruz) in his Aurora debut as Anatol, along with Aurora veterans Tim Kniffin (Trouble in Mind, The Best Man) and Delia MacDougall (SEX, The Old Neighborhood). Chicago Shakespeare Theater's (CST) 25th Anniversary Season production of William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, directed by CST Associate Artistic Director Gary Griffin (CST's Follies, Broadway's The Color Purple) is now playing through April 8, 2012, and features a celebrated company of artists that includes stage and screen actor Ron Orbach as Nick Bottom, former Saturday Night Live funnyman Tim Kazurinsky as Peter Quince, and veteran CST actors Tracy Michelle Arnold as Hippolyta/Titania and Timothy Edward Kane as Theseus/Oberon.
