The show was originally intended for Broadway, but closed after seven weeks of tryouts in Philadelphia and Boston.

I will never look at classic cocktails the same way after experiencing Marilyn Klaus' immersive show, a?oeCocktail Houra?? by her New York based company, Ballets with a Twist. This innovative and clever show transcended time periods and dance styles with small stories inspired by drinks such as a?oeLemon Dropa??, a?oeCuba Librea??, and a?oeBloody Marya??. The Crest Theatre at Old School Square was the perfect venue to highlight a?oeCocktail Houra?? - it was like seeing history come alive.

What you'll find at the end of a long, foggy hall with ominous flickering lights is the home of Lurie and June Walker. Come on in when you get here. The Man Who Came to Dinner is a fun and funny, old-fashioned romp. Led by Ed Fernandez, the seasoned cast of 20 present an energetic and dynamic night of theater. Fernandez stars as radio personality and houseguest from Hell, Sheridan Whiteside. Whiteside slips on the ice outside the Stanley residence and is forced to recuperate among the 'common folk'. Fernandez plays a great curmudgeon yet knows when to pull it in to make the character more well-rounded and less cartoonish.
So, my loves, what do you do when a YOUNG tween BROADWAY VETERAN named Eleanor Koski (of Les Miz) asks you to join her in a Cabaret she's producing? Well, when you are any of her teen peers with talent and that burgeoning thirst to perform, or her admirable adult colleagues, apparently you say yes - especially when proceeds are going to the very worthy National Association of the Deaf. Koski has put together an afternoon's entertainment that, at first blush, might make you think it's another installment of GR42's (YOUNG) series, but this is a presentation all her own, with expertly executed and acted ASL Interpretation by Beth Applebaum and Patrick Coble.
When it comes to Tony Award snubbing, there are several artistic high crimes and misdemeanors. For instance, Fiorello! winning Best Musical over Gypsy, or the good Music Man besting the better West Side Story. Or how about this awful upset: Two Gentlemen of Verona (the since-forgotten musical) beating both Grease and Follies for the top honor. Perhaps worst of all is this: Even though A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM was Stephen Sondheim's first and most successful Broadway show as a composer and lyricist, and even though it would win six of its eight nominated Tony Awards in 1962-1963 (including Best Musical), Mr. Sondheim himself was not even nominated for his lyrics and score. A show that features some of the most beloved comic songs from the early 1960's--'Comedy Tonight,' 'Lovely,' and 'Everybody Ought to Have a Maid'--wasn't even nominated for these iconic numbers. (For the record, Oliver! won that year for Best Score.) Broadway's greatest composer would have to wait almost a decade to receive his first Tony Award.
