Berkshire Theatre Group and Kate Maguire have announced casting for shows in BTG’s Early Summer 2022 Season. The full season will feature B.R.O.K.E.N code B.I.R.D switching, a world premiere play and recipient of an NEA Grants for Arts Projects Award and more.

​​​​​​​The Center for Actor Training at Shakespeare & Company will offer its Summer Shakespeare Intensive for actors May 31 to June 26 in Lenox, Mass., this June.

As Southwest Shakespeare Company enters its 29th Season, the theatre company has named the Founder of Harlem Shakespeare Festival, Debra Ann Byrd, as the company’s new Artistic Director. A native of Spanish Harlem, New York, Byrd is an award-winning classically trained actress and producer and arts administrator. 

Provides a tasty smorgasbord comprised of the layers contributing to the woman, as well as her depth, dynamism, energy, and intensity. The performance is primarily, a recounting of Byrd’s life and experiences. Like the woman, herself, the piece is an amalgamation of myriad events, issues, topics, some of which can be unpleasant and challenging.

The Atlanta Shakespeare Company at The Shakespeare Tavern Playhouse presents Othello, a digital production, directed by O’Neil Delapenha. Performances will be available for purchase February 4-28, 2021.

The Harlem Shakespeare Festival in partnership with The National Arts Club is pleased to announce the World Premiere of BECOMING OTHELLO: A Black Girl's Journey, a solo, multimedia theatrical performance recorded live at The Center at West Park and streamed on Zoom, Monday, December 14th at 7:00pm.

Arts Midwest today announced the recipients of $1.17 million in Shakespeare in American Communities grants, with $1 million going to professional theater companies partnering with schools, and $170,000 going to organizations partnering with facilities in the juvenile justice system.

On February 28th, Southern Connecticut State University Department of Theatre kicks off the spring half of its 2019-20 season with Red Velvet by Lolita Chakrabarti. This production of Red Velvet traverses Black History Month and Women's History Month.

Shakespeare & Company is excited to announce its 2020 summer season, May 21 - October 18, 2020. Under the theme 'The Labyrinth of Love' the season includes Shakespeare titles: King Lear, Much Ado About Nothing, The Comedy of Errors, and, in a special workshop production, Measure for Measure. The contemporary plays this season are The Lifespan of a Fact by Jeremy Kareken, David Murrell, and Gordon Farrell; What Rhymes With America, by the Obie Award-winning playwright Melissa James Gibson; Row After Row by Jessica Dickey; Susan Smith Blackburn Award and Obie Award winner My Left Breast by Susan Miller; and Laurence Olivier Award winner Betrayal by Harold Pinter.

Casting is set for Studio Theatre's production of Pipeline, playwright Dominique Morisseau's searing drama about the school-to-prison pipeline and a mother desperately trying to keep her son from becoming ensnared in it. The production runs January 15-February 16, 2020 and is directed by Awoye Timpo. Starring are DC theatre favorite Justin Weaks (Studio's Curve of Departure) as high school student Omari and Andrea Harris Smith making her Studio debut as his mother, public school teacher Nya. In its recent People Issue, Washington City Paper's called Weaks a 'standout,' going on to say: 'D.C. theater audiences love Justin Weaks. ...Weaks came to D.C. for a job about four years ago, not expecting to stay. But he kept getting cast in shows, and lucky for local theatergoers, he's still here.'

The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust's first Writer-in-Residence, Debra Ann Byrd, is set to return to Stratford-upon-Avon in October 2019 with her new solo show BECOMING OTHELLO: A Black Girl's Journey.
