TCG Announces Seema Sueko To Receive Alan Schneider Director Award

Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for theatre, proudly announces that Seema Sueko has been awarded the Alan Schneider Director Award. The Award was established in honor of Alan Schneider's significant contribution to theatre in the U.S. and his lifelong commitment to the development of career opportunities for freelance directors.

Asolo Repertory Theatre announced its 2022-2023. The season kicks off in November with one of the greatest American musicals of the 20th century, Kander and Ebb’s iconic CABARET (Nov. 16 – Dec. 31).

New Memberships Now Available for Virginia Stage Company's Season 43

Current subscribers see their 43rd season officially kick off this December with a new production of the holiday classic: A Merry Little Christmas Carol by Mark Shanahan, and will end in June, 2022 with Duncan MacMillan’s Every Brilliant Thing: an immersive storytelling experience that blends comedy, improv, and audience interaction to tell the story of an adult growing up in the shadow of mental illness, and learning to grapple with their own experiences with love, loss, and depression.

Shakespeare in Clark Park Will Present GERMANTOWN PLAYS PERICLES This Month

Festivities in Vernon Park begin at 5:30pm each evening with a fair including interactive art installations, games, resource tables, a mutual aid station, reunion photo booth, drumming, and more. The evening culminates with an original 30-minute play at 7pm that refracts Shakespeare's PERICLES through a poetic story which centers Black Germantown and the community's fight against gentrification. This event is free and open to the public. 

Shakespeare In Clark Park Presents PERIL'S ISLAND

The second in Shakespeare in Clark Park's summer trilogy, Peril's Island, premieres in Kensington's Harrowgate Park on August 13 - 15. Directed by Sam Tower, with lead writer Alexandra Espinoza, this dance theatre performance is filled with pirates, scooters, jokes, and more. The show begins at 6pm nightly, with timed entry and reservations available for free to the public. 

Stage Directors And Choreographers Foundation Announces New Board Members

Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation, the not-for-profit foundation of Stage Directors and Choreographers Society, announces the election of Justin Emeka, Doug Hughes, and Seema Sueko as the newest members of the SDCF Board of Trustees. They join President Mark Brokaw, Vice President/Secretary Anne Kauffman, Sheldon Epps, Linda Hartzell, Dan Knechtges, Laura Penn, and Victoria Traube as Trustees of the Foundation. Hughes will serve as the Foundation's Treasurer.

BWW Interview: Greg Watanabe – A NO-NO BOY FOR US ALL

In sync with Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, L.A. Theatre Works will be releasing two audio theater recordings about the horrific Japanese American experience during World War II - Jeanne Sakata’s FOR US ALL and Ken Narasaki’s NO-NO BOY. FOR US ALL’s available for purchase now, with NO-NO BOY on May 15, 2021. Anna Lyse Erikson directs both show’s large ensemble casts, with Greg Watanabe voicing the lead characters in both.
