Next month, FEINSTEIN’S/54 BELOW, Broadway’s Supper Club & Private Event Destination, will present some of the brightest stars from Broadway, cabaret, jazz, and beyond.
Break out the popcorn for a night of madness mixing movies and original music! In this innovative new concert, nine of the hottest and most up-and-coming musical theatre writers and teams will be challenged to create a musical theater song from a Hollywood hit.
The Musical Theatre Program at Anderson University has announced the release of an audio-play podcast featuring AU students performing with Broadway actors Jill Abramovitz and Aaron Lazar. The podcast, titled The Show Must Go On: A Musical Mystery at Sea, is the first piece created under The Musical Theatre New Works and New Media Initiative.
In The Works is be presented monthly and feature three composers or composer teams, each presenting about 20 minutes of new material. After spending a year working as a music teacher in an emergency refugee camp in Berlin, Jen now lives in her parents' basement - stuck. She is haunted by her memories and refuses to move forward with her life in America. Combining choral music, German house/techno, and Middle Eastern music, Notes from the Basement follows this diverse intergenerational and international cast on a journey of loss and forgiveness, taking a hard look at the American hero complex, 'voluntourism,' and finding humanity in seemingly inhuman circumstances.
