Glenda Jackson and Ruth Wilson stopped by TODAY to talk about bringing Shakespear's 'King Lear' to Broadway. Jackson talks about how her friend, Nuria Espert, who played Lear in Barcelona, was the person who told her to play Lear herself. Wilson also reveals how this is her first Shakespeare play, and that playing two roles is quite the undertaking.

The Drama League (Gabriel Stelian-Shanks, Executive Artistic Director) today announced the 2019 Drama League Awards Nominees for Outstanding Production of a Play, Outstanding Revival of a Play, Outstanding Production of a Musical, Outstanding Revival of a Musical, and the much-coveted Distinguished Performance Award. The nominations were announced this morning by the current stars of Waitress, Shoshana Bean and Jeremy Jordan, at the official announcement event at Sardi's Restaurant, which was streamed live online here at BroadwayWorld.

But King Lear? One week before the NT Live broadcast of All About Eve, Sonia Friedman Productions and Fox Stage Productions have today announced that the Olivier Award-nominated production has broken box office records at the Noel Coward Theatre. Each week since official opening on 12th February, All About Eve has exceeded the previous record for weekly net sales. Ivo van Hove's production must end on 11th May 2019.

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) has today announced the nominations for the 2019 Virgin Media British Academy Television Awards and British Academy Television Craft Awards. These awards reward the very best in television craft and television programmes broadcast in the UK in 2018. The Virgin Media British Academy Television Awards ceremony will be held at the Royal Festival Hall on Sunday 12 May with the British Academy Television Craft Awards taking place two weeks earlier on Sunday 28 April at The Brewery, London.
