The TexARTS Professional Series presents Little Shop of Horrors with book and lyrics by Howard Ashman and music by Alan Menken. Performances take place October 4-20, 2019 at the Kam & James Morris Theatre in Lakeway.

ZACH Theatre announces the cast for the Texas premiere of the soulful musical lovestory, The Ballad of Klook and Vinette, running April 24 - May 26, 2019 in The Kleberg. After making a triumphant American Premiere last year at the Horizon Theatre, Musical Director Christian Magbywill join this production with direction by ZACH's Producing Artistic Director Dave Steakley. The Ballad of Klook and Vinette has a Book by Che Walkerwith Music and Lyrics by Anoushka Lucas and Omar Lyefook.

Over 100 new people move to Austin every day. And before you wonder why I've started a theatre review with that statistic, it means 36,500 new Austinites have not seen ZACH's A CHRISTMAS CAROL. This perennial favorite, running at ZACH every Christmas season for the last three million years (Okay, really, what is it now, four years?) adds much merriment to the Austin holiday season, and Austin theatre in general. It showcases the best of our community, and is top notch entertainment for those looking to bask in the joy of the holiday season. It's a perfect show to share with the family in town for the holiday - and a great representation of Austin's talent for the newcomer.

ZACH Theatre brings three great seasonal shows for everyone to share this 2018 Holiday Season. ZACH's rockin' holiday tradition, A Christmas Carol will return to The Topfer at ZACH for the fifth year November 21-December 30 with exciting new songs and new cast in addition to returning favorites. David Sedaris' ever-irreverent and giddily-cynical Macy's elf Crumpet is back with a new Crumpet, running on The Whisenhunt December 5-December 30. ZACH Theatre's Moody Theatre for Families Series brings back Holiday Heroes this season due to popular demand for two shows, December 8 and 15.

Austin-based rock artist Jonathon Zemek gears up for the official release of his comic book/rock opera project 'Hillcrest' this weekend. The album part of the project will be out everywhere music can be streamed/bought - including Austin's own Waterloo Records - while the comic book can be purchased at this link, or at Zemek's booth at this year's Wizard World Austin convention starting this Friday, Sept. 21 through Sunday Sept. 23 at the Austin Convention Center. 'Hillcrest' can be found at booth 1032 in Artist Alley at Wizard World Austin. At the booth, merchandise, CDs and books will be available and Zemek will be joined by 'Hillcrest' illustrator Chris Rogers on Friday and Sunday, who will be live-sketching for interested patrons, as well as producer Matt Smith and vocalist Andrea Lindzey on Saturday. Soul-rock, Austin-based musician Jonathon Zemek premieres the new single 'Death of Me' from the multimedia project 'Hillcrest' today with Glide Magazine. The premiere can be found here. 'Death of Me' is the second single off 'Hillcrest,' and features Matt Smith, the album's producer, on vocals. 'Hillcrest' is a rock opera with an accompanying comic book depicting a fictional coming of age story penned by Zemek and Smith. The project will be released Sept. 21, 2018, premiering at the Wizard World Austin pop culture convention (taking place Sept. 21-23 and located at the Austin Convention Center). At Wizard World Austin, people can meet Zemek and see and purchase the comic book as well as the album. Spectrum Theatre Company presents a staged reading of Juneteenth Chronicles by Abena Edwards from June 16th-17th at The AISD Performing Arts Center. This new play will inspire, enlighten, and forever alter audience member's view of Juneteenth, the official Emancipation Holiday.

Co-founder of Austin-based band Soul Track Mind Jonathon Zemek announces a multimedia project depicting a fictional coming of age story entitled 'Hillcrest.' The project includes an album featuring Guy Forsyth, Malford Milligan, Matt Smith, Andrea Lindzeyand Roderick Sanford who all portray the vocal characters in the story of 'Hillcrest,' giving voices to the art of an accompanying comic book illustrated by local street artist Chris Rogers. Both the album and the comic book are set to release Sept. 21, 2018 with an official release show that evening. Who doesn't know the story of Charles Dickens's 'A Christmas Carol'? The story is drummed into our heads every holiday season from the moment we're able to process speech. The story has been adapted a staggering number of times for film, stage, opera, and other media. 'A Christmas Carol in Prose, Being a Ghost-Story of Christmas', is most commonly known simply as 'A Christmas Carol' and was first published in 1843 with that first edition selling out by Christmas Eve. Remarkably, it has never been out of print and by the end of the first year, thirteen editions had been released. It has been translated into several languages. It tells the story of Ebenezer Scrooge (Harvey Guion), an old miser who is visited by the ghost of his former business partner Jacob Marley (Roderick Sanford) and the Ghosts of Christmas Past (Kenny Williams), Present (Chanel), and Yet to Come (Roderick Sanford). Their visits transform Scrooge into a kinder and gentler man.
