This December Main Street Theater is bringing back the holiday favorites Miss Bennet and The Wickhams: Christmas at Pemberley via live, staged readings on Zoom. Main Street has been offering the Pemberley plays - based on Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice and written by acclaimed playwright Lauren Gunderson and Margot Melcon - for the last few seasons.

Día de Muertos Ohio and Cleveland Public Theatre (CPT) / Teatro Público de Cleveland (TPC) present the 16th Annual Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead) Festival, a free, all-ages event created with safety as the highest priority. Día de Muertos is a vibrant cultural celebration for the whole family honoring the memory of those who have passed, and is a treasured holiday in Mexico and throughout Latin America. This year's activities, taking place on Saturday, October 31 and Sunday, November 1, include indoor, outdoor, and virtual altar and cemetery presentations.

The Wickhams is all about what's happening downstairs in the servants' quarters while the actions of Miss Bennet were taking place upstairs!

The Kitchen Theatre Company is set to begin its 2019-2020 season with The Children by Lucy Kirkwood, a thought-provoking play that tackles the themes of mortality, consequence, and environmental legacy. Black Ensemble Theater Founder and Executive Director Jackie Taylor announces the 6th year of Soul of a Powerful Woman, a performance to help raise funds for the Black Ensemble Theater to support its mission of eradicating racism through the theater arts. Co-created by Jackie Taylor, and Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, Soul of a Powerful Woman has become a premier annual event having raised more than $300,000 to support Black Ensemble Theater programs.

The winner will claim a book-publishing contract with Absolutely Amazing eBooks, free Mystery Fest Key West 2019 registration, airfare, hotel accommodations for two nights and a Whodunit Award trophy to be presented at the 6th Annual Mystery Fest Key West, set for June 28-30 in Key West, Florida.

Main Street Theater provides theater experiences for all ages.  Founded in 1975, our MainStage produces professional, intimate, literary plays for adults; our Theater for Youth produces professional, engaging productions based on children's literature for families and school groups, both in-house and on tour around Texas; and we offer Education and Outreach programs on-site and at satellite locations around the Greater Houston area for youth aged 4 - high school.  We perform locally in 2 facilities: our Rice Village home on Times. Blvd., and as part of the MATCH (Midtown Arts & Theater Center Houston) on Main Street. 

Main Street Theater (MST) presents the fun, family musical Curious George: The Golden Meatball, based on the books by Margret and H.A. Rey and the play owned by Universal Stage Productions. 

The talents of 21 Mercer County artists will be on display at the Gallery at Mercer County Community College (MCCC) in 'Mercer County Artists 2018,' which runs from Monday, May 21 to Monday, July 9. The Gallery at Mercer is located on the second floor of the Communications Building on Mercer's West Windsor Campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road.

At Main Street Theater, we know how important it is to begin to introduce some sort of normalcy to our children, to help them to grieve, to talk, to feel, to smile, to laugh, says Vivienne M. St. John, Theater for Youth Producing Director at Main Street. Our upcoming production of Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type is the perfect respite the children need from the Hurricane: a chance to engage with something familiar (the production is based on the beloved children's book), a chance to laugh and be silly, a chance to be with family and friends.

Since Hurricane Harvey hit Houston, Main Street Theater has held Hurricane Camps (both free & deeply discounted) and taken storybook characters to shelters and bookstores to engage with and cheer children. National and international media outlets shared news of MST's efforts (American Theatre Magazine shared news of our Hurricane Camp, BBC World Service's The Cultural Frontline spoke with MST's Mark Roberts re his social media updates about the Houston theater community and damage status/reports, and TYA Today Online, the nationally and internationally respected magazine for the field of theatre for young people published by Theatre for Young Audiences/USA, requested and published a reflection on the Hurricane and the Houston theater community by MST.
